      Hey all,

I just decided to upgrade from 2.03 to 3.2.2. I am going through my config.g and re-writing it all, but I seem to be having an issue with setting up my bed heater.

This is my bed heater config from 2.03

      ; Heaters
      M140 H7 ; Sets bed heater to heater 7
      M307 H7 A223.1 C298.7 D1.2 V22.8 B0 ; Disable bang-bang mode for the bed heater and set PWM limit
      M305 P7 T100000 B3950 R4700 ; Set thermistor + ADC parameters for heater 7 (Bed)(add S parameter from 0-1 to change PWM limit.)
      M143 H7 S90 ; Set temperature limit for heater 0 to 90C

This is my bed heater config on 3.2.2

      ; Heaters
      ; Bed
      M140 H7
      M308 S0 P"e6temp" Y"thermistor" T100000 R4700 B3950 ; configure sensor 0 as thermistor on pin bedtemp
M950 H7 C"bedheat" T0 ; create bed heater output on bedheat and map it to sensor 0
      M307 H7 A223.1 C298.7 D1.2 V22.8 B0 ; Disable bang-bang mode for the bed heater and set PWM limit
      M143 H7 S120 ; set temperature limit for heater 0 to 120C

The thermistor is reporting the correct value on the new config, but I can't get the bed to heat. If I change

      M950 H7 C"bedheat" T0

      to

      M950 H7 C"e6heat" T0

my DWC ends up showing another tool head, and my bed on heater 0/sensor 0, which is no good.

The 2.03 configuration worked, so I'm not sure what I need to change.

I am running a Duex5 and the bed is connected to E6 Heater and E6 Thermistor as called out in this diagram.

        M950 H7

Please check the doku for M950....H now is the channel not the pin.

Please use the configurator to generate propper system files.

        Edit:
There are more things that need to be considered or changed.

also the configurator takes care of things that you might not be aware of like order

          https://duet3d.dozuki.com/Wiki/Gcode#Section_M140_Set_Bed_Temperature_Fast_or_Configure_Bed_Heater

In RRF3 a M140 command with H parameter (other than H-1) must come after the M950 command that creates that heater, and before any M143 command that sets a temperature limit for that heater.

@DIY-O-Sphere Hmm, I did use the configurator, I guess I didn't set it correctly? Seems confusing because M140 H7 sets the heater. I also followed this guide
            https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tAr4zIbRgZs&t=902s

but maybe something changed? Or is it just because I'm trying to remap the default bed heat pin?

              In RRf3

              C"bedheat"

              sets the pin.....

@DIY-O-Sphere Okay, this is what ended up working.

                ; Heaters
                ; Bed
                M308 S0 P"e6temp" Y"thermistor" T100000 R4700 B3950 ; configure sensor 0 as thermistor on pin bedtemp
                M950 H7 C"!exp.heater7" T0 ; create bed heater output on exp.heater7 and map it to sensor 0
                M307 H7 A223.1 C298.7 D1.2 V22.8 B0 ; Disable bang-bang mode for the bed heater and set PWM limit
                M140 H7
                M143 H7 S80 ; set temperature limit for heater 0 to 80C

The naming conventions for pins and thermistor inputs, as well as having the number offset for them seems like an oversight.

You can use what ever is free for the H paramerter there is no need to name it like the pin... The old standard for the bed was H0.
I would recommend to choose the numbering in ascending order and not in connection with the pin number. This will not work consistently with a more complex configuration.

do you have a duex? if so thats the wrong name. duex pins start with duex

@DIY-O-Sphere So what would the config.g look like for that? Every time I try to change it, it breaks. Also, I wasn't exactly referring to H7 here, more of the fact that the naming conventions for heater 6 and thermistor input 6 do not follow any type of logic and are named and numbered differently than the wiring diagrams.

@Veti I got the pin name from here. https://duet3d.dozuki.com/Wiki/RepRapFirmware_3_overview#Section_Pin_names_for_Duet_2_WiFi_Ethernet

                            change to

                            Should work...
What probably broke your configuration was that M140 has to come after M950.

And what @veti mentioned is if thermistor and heater are connected to the duex use:

                            M308 S0 P"duex.e6temp" Y"thermistor" T100000 R4700 B3950 ; configure sensor 0 as thermistor on pin bedtemp
                            M950 H0 C"!duex.e6heat" T0 ; create bed heater output on exp.heater7 and map it to sensor 0
M140 H0 ; Define bed heater as heater 7 output
                            M143 H0 S80 ; set temperature limit for heater 0 to 80C

                            ( more accurately expressed...)

@DIY-O-Sphere Thank you. I'll try that after this print finishes. I changed "!exp.heater7" to "!duex.e6heat" and it put the bed in a runaway state, so I un-inverted it to be "duex.e6heat" and it worked fine. Not sure why that happens.

@Veti I got the pin name from here. https://duet3d.dozuki.com/Wiki/RepRapFirmware_3_overview#Section_Pin_names_for_Duet_2_WiFi_Ethernet

yes it mentions the duex heater ports
