Who is using nonlinear extrusion (M592)
-
Hi, curiosity and market research: Who using nonlinear extrusion? Is it really worthwhile with today's prevalence of dual geared extruders?
-
I thought for sure I could benefit from it, but once I got to properly testing, the need wasn't there. I think the dual drive extruder killed it.
If you have a high precision scale, you can do a relatively large vase mode print once at very slow speed, and again at your maximum print speeds, then you can weigh them to see if there is a difference.

@ccs86 an acquaintance of mine is building an open source encoder based filament tuner, and the question is whether it's worthwhile implementing support for nonlinear extrusion these days or not. That's the market research part. The other part is pure curiousity.
But now I realize he did ask himself a couple days back at https://forum.duet3d.com/topic/23081/is-non-linear-extrusion-worth-bothering-with so this thread is redundant.

@oliof i'm using it...to me it seems that has some pros at the time i configured it.I got dual gear extruder but i saw difference in pushed filament between 1mm/s and 6mm/s so i tuned it and i'm still using it today.
