I mean, don't get me wrong, I loved the movie 'Zootopia' and the sloth... but not super keen when it comes to my printer speed.

Background... I just finished setting up my Duet2 Wifi on my Ender 5 Plus and have all the wiring done. All axis homes correctly, extruder works, nozzle, bed, everything works. When I home, it moves at my designated speed, nice and fast, but not too fast. Z homes great with the new EZABL Pro, happy days.

SO... I went to print a bed level test of 5 squares, and wow.... When everything heats up, it does a homing sequence and it moves slooooooooowwwwwww.

I let it home, after about 90 seconds.... then it started to print, and again, slooowww! Filament would extrude, it's printing the pieces as they should.. but just at sloth mode.

So I did some searching and saw to check my M556, M203, and M201 E speeds, which I did.

      M566 X900.00 Y900.00 Z300.00 E2000.00 ; set maximum instantaneous speed changes (mm/min)
      M203 X6000.00 Y6000.00 Z900.00 E6000.00 ; set maximum speeds (mm/min)
      M201 X500.00 Y500.00 Z500.00 E3000.00

Did a reset and still in Sloth mode.

I also checked the M201 setting in the gcode and it looked fine as it prints fine on Marlin

      M201 X500.00 Y500.00 Z100.00 E5000.00 ;Setup machine max acceleration

I found a reddit post where the guy said he got it fixed... but the dude didn't post the solution... Just said it had something to do with Cura settings.

This is the start of my cura gcode file

Did some more searching and found the problem

Apparently these lines are the culprit... so I removed them and tried printing again...

@infidelprops yup, those looke like old Marling numbers.

FYI, RRF & Marrlin use different units for feedrates & jerk - Marlin uses mm/s whereas RRF uses mm/min, so 500 mm/min would mean it would take ~25s to move across a 200mm bed! Compare the M203 numbers in your config to what you were overriding them with in your start gcode and you'll see the difference

In general you should be able to set up sensible machine limits in your config and not need to change them in slicer, though you can play around with different speeds/accels for different feature types like infill or perimieters if you want.

I would also double check that your slicer is set to RRF flavour and not Marlin 🙂

@engikeneer Thanks mate! After I found the issue, I did check my printer settings in Cura and removed the start code and set it to RR versus Marlin.

            Good shout out!
