Is there a reason why hotbeds are not steel? Besides cost?

      On the pro side
      • whole bed can be magnetized to allow hotter beds
      • Electric induction cooktop heaters can be attached to bottom with metal screws / no glue
      • much less warping than aluminum

Attached is a quick image of the bottom of steel bed. Just to give ides of a type of grid pattern. NOT finial. Induction heaters would be screwed on at the internal holes. Bed is 500mm x 500mm usable, 580mm x 580mm actual size. The larger holes on the sides are for future top side attachmentsGallaghersArt_magbed_01_500x500.jpg

@gallaghersart aluminum has better conductivity compared to steel and regarding warping I think a cast and milled aluminum plate is better than steel. I think your idea is interesting.

Reminds me of Dr. Bowyer's idea of a solenoid heated bed.

@boa Aluminum works poorly with induction heating.
