    • First run

Finally my Delta is up and running. After following the delta calibration procedure it was time to run a mesh compensation. Probe radius 200 and spacing 20. I think I can be happy with the result.

      Number of points: 305
      Probe area: 1296.0 cm²
      Maximum deviations: -0.049 / 0.051 mm
      Mean error: -0.003 mm
      RMS error: 0.016 mm

Bed: 8mm cast aluminum, diameter 510mm
      Build height: 925mm

    • Smart effector adapter 80mm

Going to use 80mm rod spacing. Design and manufactured an adapter for the smart effector. CNC milled aluminum, weight 38grams. The plan is to use an Orbiter 2.0 extruder.

Made some mounts for the Orbiter 2.0. Works great with my 80mm smart effector adapter. Weight is 12 grams.

Found this on YouTube, maybe already discussed but I think it could help.

    • My Delta project

My current ongoing project is a large delta printer. Bed size is 510mm and the total height will be 1800mm. The goal is to have a very rigid design so I went with V-slot C-beam 40x80 for the towers and V-slot 20x80 between them. I could not find any suitable corners so I made my own design in Fusion 360 and my oldest son helped me to fabricate them with a CNC-milling machine at his work.
I have all the extrusions and all corners but so far nothing is assembled yet but I have some renderings and a photo.

    • RE: the ground loop thing

      @fcwilt
Without having the 0V connected to ground/earth and the frame of the printer connected to earth/ground, then for example the fuse for the bed heater may not trip if you get a short to the frame in the heater.
I always have the 0V connected to ground/earth and if there should be any problem with ground loop I use the laptop running on battery only. Just my opinion.

@captain_sq check here what you need to convert. You can also make a new configuration with the config tool and then compare it with the old one.

      Need to convert

I can confirm that this is now fixed in 3.4-b7. Thanks @dc42

@Fred-Y I have been thinking of that solution for my Orbiter 2.0. With my 80mm rod spacing adapter the Orbiter can be mounted horizontally.

I remember I had a similar problem with 3.4b6. It was fixed in 3.4b7. It was something with calculations of steps for deltas.

@apak Yes, Do you want the holes to be with modeled threads or just holes, I guess that M3 holes are not going to be well printed?

@tecno The carriage adapter is my own design (CNC milled) that fit on a Hiwin linear block. The rail is mounted inside the tower (C-Beam extrusion). The ends of the belt are clamped on the carriage adapter.

    • RE: G30 H?

@tecno Just tested my new delta setup. Changed to linear bearings and 80mm rod spacing and a 80mm adapter for the smart effector. Adjusted the sensitivity of the smart effector so there is a distinct click sound every time the nozzle hits the bed when probing. Not sure about the H parameter but I have H0 on all G30. I think my delta is about the size you have. Points 249, Radius 225. The bed is cast and milled 8mm aluminum.
