      @signpostman where is it attached to?

      Owns various duet boards and is the main wiki maintainer for the Teamgloomy LPC/STM32 port of RRF. Assume I'm running whatever the latest beta/stable build is

        @jay_s_uk Right Now I am in testing and I just have it attached to the lin rail in Z.
        To be honest I really don't understand that there is a Z Probe separate from the Z Endstop. is it not the same thing?

          @signpostman no, they are very different.
          for one, an endstop is fixed to the frame, can be at the maximum or minimum of travel.
          the z probe can be used to level the bed, look at how flat the bed is and can be configured with an offset to the nozzle in X, Y and Z.
          a Z endstop is only really useful at max travel for print recovery

            @jay_s_uk OK, that is why the endstop cannot be used for bed leveling. I just assumed they were the same thing. I will try to install a Z-Probe again. Any suggestions for a Z-Probe that will work over a long cable? the BL Touch does not seam to like it.

              @signpostman you could just stick with the switch if it doesn't get in the way of the nozzle.
              on one of my printers I use a BFPtouch (poor mans bltouch) and on another I run an inductive probe.
              Or, you could look at running a toolboard on the print head allowing you to use a bltouch

                The clue should have been different commands, the M574 command for configuring an endstop and the M558/G31 commands for configuring a Z probe.


                Whatever Z probe you use it has to be attached (or attachable) to the XY gantry in such a way that the probe tip can touch the bed surface.

                Naturally you have to observe all instructions regarding the installation of whatever Z probe you chose.

                  @jay_s_uk Tool board is a great idea, I bet it will eliminate the problem with the long cable. Will I also need a Tool Distribution Board?

                        @signpostman i mean you don't need (or shouldn't need) a distribution board if you're only using one toolboard.

                            Get the TDB - it makes the connection of power and CAN much easier and foolproof.
