@the_gibson looking better has that solved the problem of the carriage fouling? also try running the G32 a few time see if it all settles in to lower figures (or the after deviation converges down so that each subsequent run doesn't get much different)

@dougal1957 Already all over that... and yes, carriage is good now.

I'll be posting back with results shortly.

        definitely getting better.

        G32
Calibrated 6 factors using 13 points, deviation before 0.085 after 0.031

          @the_gibson ok, looking good now.

          G32
Calibrated 6 factors using 13 points, deviation before 0.036 after 0.035

          Going to try another print.

@the_gibson It is better, but definitely still dragging the print. first layer goes down great.

@the_gibson ok so delta calibration is looking good now, and you say the first layer is going down well, what do you mean by "but definitely still dragging the print"

@t3p3tony like the Z steps aren't moving appropriately. As soon as the second layer starts, you can hear the hotend dragging across the print, eventually either breaking the extruded material free of the bed, or creating a very deformed print. This still feels like either an extrusion issue, or a z steps being off issue.

but first problem is definitely fixed. 🙂

What size pulleys do you have 16 or 20 tooth or some other size?

Have you double checked them as your symptoms suggest that yours are slightly different to that.

@dougal1957 I have not. Assumed they were what was listed on the printer specs. You think they are 16's?

that is what I would think maybe what you could do is mark one tooth with a sharp and then count them.

@the_gibson I think that your steps/mm are right for x/y/z. If they were wrong you'd get a calibrated height that was well off of 530 because the calibration also calibrates how high it can go. Also, mine was running back in its stock days with the same value.

Is your first layer actually a little too close? You could print a cube and see if you have "elephant foot" at the bottom indicating it is too close.

If not, are you extruder steps/mm correct and have you calibrated the flow rate? Dragging could also be over extrusion.

@crpalmer I am leaning toward overextrusion now as well.

@crpalmer I have reduce the extruder steps all the way down to 160... still happening...

                                  Starting to rule out overextrusion.

@the_gibson Your original config of the steps:

                                    M350 X16 Y16 Z16 E16 I1 ; configure microstepping with interpolation
                                    M92 X80.00 Y80.00 Z80.00 E403.00 ; set steps per mm'

is probably better than what you have now. I think interpolation only works at 16 steps/mm which was a mistake in my old config.

Did you ever print a small cube to see what it looked like?

@crpalmer said in Tevo LM recent conversion and z step issues:

                                      M350 X16 Y16 Z16 E16 I1 ; configure microstepping with interpolation
                                      M92 X80.00 Y80.00 Z80.00 E403.00 ; set steps per mm'

                                      Adjusted back to these settings.

printing one now... this is going to be funny.

ok, I'm dumb... z-offset in the slicer was the culprit.

now mostly printing... have some tuning to do... but working.

Turned out to be a Z-offset in my slicer I dismissed because I needed it before.

All is working as it should now.

Thank you for your help, and the debugging assist!
