Tinyg to Duet for Pnp Which Board ?
-
Good day All thank you for contributing and helping out .
I currently have a Liteplacer Pnp machine which runs on liteplacer software (lacks alot of functionality and stability Sadly )
I want to move over to a Duet ( for sanity with quieter Stepper motor drivers ) and for openpnp compatibility .
Im really worried as liteplacer works with the tinyg board only .
Openpnp suggest a list of boards however the clear definition is make sure to use smoothie Firmware.
Can i use Any 4 Axis + motion controller board from Duet .
Which is most suitable (Duet 2 Wifi as it does support some good Drivers TMC2209 If i recall or better)
Sure it might be over kill but i need to know if 98% of the functions in open pnp will work ?
I surely will need help with Gcode functions as well as i know very little in terms of config .
Im asking for a big push in the right direction .
Thank you in advance . -
Frpm THIS PAGE, I read:
Duet + RepRapFirmware After having been specifically extended to support OpenPnP very well, Duet 2 and Duet 3 and RepRapFirmware (starting from 3.3beta) are now also formidable platforms for OpenPnP. See the Firmwares page. Those interested in using Duet 2 or Duet3 with OpenPnP, for help and support please contact dc42 on the OpenPnP forum at https://groups.google.com/forum/#!forum/openpnp or the Duet3D forum at https://forum.duet3d.com/.
It looks like there's a discussion of firmware on THIS PAGE.

@alankilian Thank you for the response i do appreciate it .
I just did some searching .. and found that most suppliers are out of the Duet 2 (network and wifi )
The Duet 3 Mini 5+ would suite my application way better but again im not sure of its compatibility .. Would it be possible for some one to shed some light ? Does it work ? -
@nismoboy34 if the openpnp vouch for Duet3 hardware, I'd tend to believe them. The Duet 3 mini 5+ is a capable board, and 3.3 stable is out for a long time with 3.4 coming out "real soon now" (i.e. going from beta to release candidate versions closely). I don't think you can go wrong with it. I have no experience with openpnp though.

@nismoboy34 if the TMC2209 stepper drivers on the Duet 3 Mini are powerful enough for the Liteplacer stepper motors, then it should be adequate for your application, and it costs much less than the Duet 3 MB6HC. One of the OpenPnP developers (mike at makr.zone on the OpenPnP group at https://groups.google.com/g/openpnp) has both Duet 3 MB6HC and Duet 3 Mini boards to test OpenPnP software with.
