How to update FW on SBC/Duet3 mini without internet connectivity?

Is there instructions or guide to downloading a file set and placing files directly on the SBC's SD card then executing commands in DWC console or elsewhere ?

My duet printers are on a local LAN and do not have access to internet

@sputnikoc3d only way I'm aware of would be to reimage the SBC using the latest duet pi image

Owns various duet boards and is the main wiki maintainer for the Teamgloomy LPC/STM32 port of RRF. Assume I'm running whatever the latest beta/stable build is

@jay_s_uk TY ... guess I'll need to change up the networking and get the voron near a wifi connection now - meh.

@jay_s_uk @SputnikOC3d That isn't quite right. You can download all the 3.4 .deb packages from http://pkg.duet3d.com/dists/stable/armv7/binary-armhf/, put them on a USB drive, and install them on the Pi via dpkg -i *.deb from the directory where the .deb files are located. With DuetPi-lite you must mount the USB drive using the console first.

PS: Of course you could put them on the first partition of your microSD card as well and install them using sudo dpkg -i /boot/*.deb.

Depending on your computer savvy, you could also add a local pkg mirror on your local lan and only allow access to the upstream pkg repo for that... but that seems a bit excessive.

@oliof ... funny ... As I often do - I found myself contemplating this very type of thing in the shower this a.m. as that seems to be where I have time to ponder such things in solitude and peace ... and thought - what if I had NAS on the wifi lan, in the shop, that I could dump files into that the voron / duet could see instead of the cloud ...

@sputnikoc3d No worries - you need all the files that have 3.4.0 in the filename. If there are any missing dependencies, dpkg will tell you.

@chrishamm - got all the files [ 9 of them i reckon ] onto USB stick. got it sorted on how to MOUNT the USB to /mnt/usb/Duet3SBC/

executed sudo dpkg -i *.deb from that folder ...

Things seem to be going well packages unpacked - files overwiriting and it advises 2 boards out of date:

                            Duet 3 Mini 5+ [ 3.4.0 beta3 ]
                            Duet 3 Expansion Tool1LC [ 3.3 ] ... a brand new 1.2v board

Would you like to update them all [ Y/N ]
                            Y
.. Updating firmware on Board 121....

seems to be taking a good bit ... like to the point Im worried its stuck ... after getting this far LOL

If it's taking more than a couple minutes it's probably finished and hasn't moved on. A power cycle would likely indicate that the firmware has been updated successfully. Take comfort that it's not possible to brick a board with a firmware update.

The configs should be safe on the SBC. And you have backups right? ....right?

@phaedrux - noticing some lines in there ...

... to delete the "dsf" user run as root ..

... to delete the "gpio" group run as root

Errors or just useful info or not to worry ?

Minimized the terminal window and the DWC is showing ... please wait while updates are being installed ...
