Use with a CNC?

Could this be incorporated into a CNC machine, please?
I would want it to determine changes in tool length, once a tool has been changed, i.e. from an M6 command in the gcode.
I appreciate M6 isn't supported, but I'd use a macro.
Thank you

Anyone able to answer this, please?

@nightowl999 it's a z probe like any other. I know nothing about CNC, but if you know the distance between tool tip and IR probe as well as trigger height of the probe, I don't see why it wouldn't be possible.

What exactly do you have in mind? Your question is pretty vague.
I think a simple microswitch can be used to determine tool length. Though I'm not an expert on that either.
Is there something about the IR sensor you want to use specifically? It can act as a simple switch as well.

@phaedrux I was just looking for a (simple!) replacement option for the BitSetter I had wth the Shapeoko, and te IR sensor caught my eye.
With my S3 I had both a BitZero (XYZ probe) and a BitSetter, but they didn't always work together, randomly trying to send the cutter down to Australia.
The BitSetter is a mechanical switch, but I thought the IR laser to be more accurate - although I'm only really working with wood, for the time being.

The IR sensor can be a bit particular about the surface it's meant to probe. A big flat non-reflective bed surface works best. A small shiny tool tip may not be the most reliable trigger. A simple mechanical switch would be more sensible I think, and it's really hard to beat it's accuracy.

@phaedrux Fair enough, and the point of my question really, although badly put.
It's primary purpose would be to measure the difference in tool length when a tool has been changed, but a mechanical switch is quite straightfoward.
