I hope someone can help. I want to set up stall detection but first I am trying to set up sensorless homing for the X and Y axes, because I believe that's a requirement of stall detection (am I right?), but it's not working.

      I have:

      • Disconnected the limit switches and fitted 'hard' stops.
      • Implemented the changes recommended in Stall detection and sensorless homing
      • I'm trying it on Home X but it just stalls and bumps around when it hits the hard stop. Same thing on the Y axis.
      • I've adjusted the M913 % and the G1 F parameters as recommended to no avail. At this point I'm stuck.

      Board: Duet 3 Mini 5+ (Mini5plus)
      Firmware: RepRapFirmware for Duet 3 Mini 5+ 3.4.0 (2022-03-15)
      Duet WiFi Server Version: 1.26

      X and Y Motors: Nema 17, 1.8 degree/step

You don't have to use sensorless homing in order to use stall detection, but you do have to tune the stall detection parameters.

@phaedrux That's great news! I've reverted back to limit switches to go with "sensor" homing so now I'll implement the stall detection and try to find the sweet spot. I'll follow up.

I'm still having problems but this title is now misleading since it is not necessary to set up sensorless homing first so I have started a new thread problems-setting-up-stall-detection
