    Hi, i have a problem with my effector. Some days ago instarted having problems with heater faults.i checked the cables and they were ok. Yesterday the heater didn't work at all. I disassembled everything and found the effector as you can see in the picture. Why has this happened?

      @ulcast what heater are you using? voltage? wattage?

      Owns various duet boards and is the main wiki maintainer for the Teamgloomy LPC/STM32 port of RRF. Assume I'm running whatever the latest beta/stable build is

          What heater faults did you get?

          What were you using for wiring?

          When and where did you purchase the Smart Effector?

            @phaedrux I bought it in 2018 on reprapworld.com,
            I used the original wires of the heater.

            While i was printing the temperature dropped down and it have me the fault heater message. It happened two times, i tried printing a third time, but it didn't heat up.

              Are you able to test the heater cartridge itself (carefully) to see if it's still functional?

              Just to confirm that you are using a 12v PSU with your 12v heater cartridge? Had it been functioning correctly for some time before the fault?

              Did the heater cable have strain relief? It's possible there was a weak crimp or cable causing a poor connection and increased resistance leading to the heat.

                Yes it is 12v, it has been working for 4 years, no problem.
                Sonetimes the heater wire broke near the molex connector because i don't have strain relief (i don't know where to buy it). So i put some electrical tape around the wires.
                This time the wire was ok.

                Now i soldered the pin back and everything is working again, but I'm afraid it could hallen again... I'll buy a new molex connector and crimp again all the wires very carefully.

                  We've added a note strain relief here: https://docs.duet3d.com/en/Duet3D_hardware/Accessories/Smart_Effector#warnings
