Duet 3 Mini 5+ - Red Status LED Fast Flashing
-
I recently rearranged my electronics panel, and now suddenly my Duet 3 Mini 5+ does not always boot up correctly. During power on the red LED flashes fast, and no WIFI is available. if i simply reboot the system without changing anything, suddenly the LED flashes slowly and the board boots normally with WiFi available and i can use the printer. Its about 50/50 normal bootup vs failed bootup.
I've checked all my wiring and i find no issues. Anyone have an idea what fast flashing indicates? the documentation didnt seem to specify this. Thanks.

Have you checked over USB if the board has booted and it's just wifi that hasn't connected?

@Phaedrux as soon as i plug in the USB cable and the computer recognizes the device, the LED begins flashing normal. but the board will not respond to terminal commands unfortunately.
also when this issue happens with no boot, all fans start running. its like there is a grounding issue or electrical issue?

Can you try removing the board and disconnecting it completely and then try following the firmware flash procedure for the mini5+.

@Phaedrux i did not get a chance to try these steps, but i think i am on the latest firmware.
i thought more about this and remembered in the last few days i added a liquid cooling pump, the standard PC type using 3 wire 12V 0.8 amp. the tach wire goes directly to the Duet board out4.tach, and the 12V and ground goes directly to a dedicated power supply.
once i removed this tach wire, this issue disappeared. this doesnt make sense why this would matter. when the printer did boot up, the pump RPM's gave a normal reading in DWC. so it worked correctly. but i guess something was causing a glitch with this setup.
12V+ - dedicated PSU
Ground - dedicated PSU
Tach - Duet board out4.tachbut i have my config as follows. perhaps i should remove the first portion out4?
M950 F5 C"out4+out4.tach" Q500

It sounds like it's shorting something on the board. Do you have more information about the pump?

@Phaedrux this one from Amazon. i cant find much info on it. it performs great but its definitely a cheaper no-name brand.
the label says Model MS-500

@RogerPodacter so this issue is not fixed, i did not do enough testing. pump is likely not faulty.
here is another question. i ran out of fan connections. so i am sending the ground wire of a 12V fan to the negative of the 24V out6 connection. is this an issue? i didnt think so, unless it was reversed where i was sending a 24V fan to a 12V connection.

That should be ok. I assume you only want to run the 12v fan always on.

If you mean can you run the fan (and nothing else) from OUT6 but connect its positive wire to +12V instead of to the VFAN pin on OUT6, that's OK.
