We're one step ahead of you! We already have the prices for that sensor and we will evaluate it shortly.

I'd give the idea a +1, the filament monitor beta we have now works, but it does seem clumbersome compared with something along the lines of the optical sensor prusa are using. Also ability to do filament presence and movement? I'd buy two for sure, I'm quite sold on the idea of filament sensors based on beta testing the mechanical one, they do offer something worthwhile. And there seems to be some traction for them right now, youtube 3D dudes making videos about them etc…

Agreed - this seems to be a great sensor to add to my Kossel Mini.

What would an ETA be on a duet3d version? Will the beta sensor be scraped for this? I need a few…lol.

Id buy one for sure! I was never thrilled about the idea of the duet filament sensor getting pinched between two gears. However, I trust that the Duet crew and beta testers knew better than me. THe proof is always in the pudding. I would have bought one of those and been just as excited about it once it got the seal of approval. I do like the idea of nothing touching the filament though.

We need to evaluate this sensor before we decide. I doubt we will make both.

I would also love to know when the filament monitor will be ready for sale. I'm in need of quite a few.

Sadly the maker of the laser sensor has long delivery times, even for the evaluation kit (which we ordered 2 weeks ago). So we won't be able to do the evaluation or make a decision on which design to use for a few more weeks.

Regardless of what you folks decide, put my name down for purchasing and testing a sensor.
