TAMV - tool alignment
-
Hello duet Community
I'm planning to upgrade my tool changers and I would love to make the offsets automatically. Is somebody still using TAMV?
Or is there an other option?

@IndeX4D TAMV is still usable but complicated. I would suggest looking into M675 and using a hole in the print surface (like the craftbot idex) for offset detection. There was a discussion about this about half a year ago where a sample implementation was posted.

@oliof thanks a lot!
I think we need to have a digital option for our project. It's more about industrial 3d printing in big format.
Looks like nobody cares tamv at the moment, right?
Or did they move away from github...?
Thanks -
@IndeX4D the M675 route would be fully automated / digital as well, just based on contacting rather than visual adjustment.
As to your question, the original author of TAMV passed away a couple years ago. I thought that someone had taken over the project (https://github.com/HaythamB/TAMV) but I haven't looked into it.
In the Klipper camp, someone developed an alternative called VAOC which does away with the computer vision part and goes with an eyeball based approach -- in my experience that works quite well. Should be easy to implement as a DWC plugin if you want to go that route. (https://github.com/HelgeKeck/vcore-idex/blob/main/doc/vaoc.md)

to follow up, here is the thread I mentioned including a macro by @NeoDue that solves this with a contacting block in the thread https://forum.duet3d.com/post/322759
