Today, I was able to get my Makergear powered up with the Duet 3 mini wifi board and so far it's OK.

But, I ran into some problems with the screen .

I followed the connection guide for using the 4-wire.

I really don't understand why the 4 wire was not setup correctly prior to being shipped with the correct connection for the 5pin IO_0

But anyways, I changed to the 5pin connector and made sure the wires were correct and I added the information into the Config-g file as posted.

After turning on the printer, nothing happened. I then went back and looked at pictures on the setup guide and realized they were not correct. The wires on the screenside connection are reversed, then what is shown on the screen pcb. So after making the change on that side of the 4wire connection, the screen turns on and is otherwise fine except for it continues trying to connect and never does. I tried reversing the In out data pins and that didn't seem to help so I put them back the correct way and still nothing. After work, I will make sure I have continuity as I didnt have time to check.

I have the latest firmware for the Duet installed, I have not tried to do the same for the Panel as I'm not sure how to do that yet.

      Any help would much appreciated.

It's correct for a Duet 2 WiFi/Ethernet board, which has a 4-pin PanelDue connector. You're right though, we should probably supply the cable for the 5 pin Duet 3 connector now.

I then went back and looked at pictures on the setup guide and realized they were not correct. The wires on the screenside connection are reversed, then what is shown on the screen pcb.

Can you provide a link to where this is incorrect? Here? https://docs.duet3d.com/User_manual/Connecting_hardware/Display_PanelDue#option-1-4-way-cable
You shouldn't need to change the PanelDue end of the cable, unless it has been assembled incorrectly. Please post a picture of your wiring.

Most likely, updating the firmware on the PanelDue is what you need to do. You can check the current version by going to the 'Setup' screen of the PanelDue. You can flash the firmware from the Duet; see https://docs.duet3d.com/User_manual/RepRapFirmware/Updating_PanelDue

@droftarts I'm at work right now. But looking at the picture, a little closer, I'm not sure if it was the picture that was not correct or the 4pin side that connects to the panel or my colorblindness that saw red where the brown is. Once, I am home, tonight, I will look it over and see if the wires are correct. It turns on and it works only after I reversed all the wires at the panel and I correctly installed the 5 pin connector on the Duet side. So I will get back to ya, once I know for sure.

As for the firmware, I will do that just after checking wiring.

          Thanks,

Also, it might be better to leave one side of the 4 wire connection open and have the pins already crimped on and then update the website with pictures showing how to setup for the Duet 2 and Duet 3 boards since you already send those with the main board

@Theboz1419 do you have the correct M575 command in your config.g file?

@dc42 Dam this typing crap, lol..

              Thank you,

I was going to say I copied exactly what was in this setup guide, and I was going to paste it exactly what I had which was

              M575 P1 S1 B57600

But, I went to check my config file and I looked and still I thought it looked OK. Then it dawned on me that I typed

              M575 P1 S1 B576600

I blame it on big fingers small phone and working on this after working all day.

Now, I have to work at getting the BL touch working, but I will do that after I get a good night sleep.

Thank you, again this forum has been a great experience so far.

@Theboz1419 Great, glad you got it working. Generally, when posting for support, it's worth posting your config.g, the response to M122 (to see firmware version and hardware info), any relevant macros to the issue (eg homing macros if it's a homing issue), and then any relevant images of wiring. You'll get more accurate support, faster. Otherwise we're just guessing at what the problem is! See https://forum.duet3d.com/topic/5909/guide-for-posting-requests-for-help

                For the BLTouch, see https://docs.duet3d.com/en/User_manual/Connecting_hardware/Z_probe_BLTouch
