Has anyone used any 40mm fan(noctua?) for the e3d v6 with smart effector? I thought of just downloading some of the adapters in thingiverse but I do not know there is enough clearance for it.
The supplied fan is too noisy and imparts too much vibration. I could practically feel the vibration through the frame.

I can't see why you couldn't mount almost any sort of fan. Model it first in cad, the SE is fairly simple and e3d v6 models are available. Just don't position the fan too close to the strain gauge as more powerful fans than the standard one induce current in the sensitive gauge. I'm using sunon maglev 30mm and had to move it outwards by 10mm.

hmm not good…just removed all the loud 30mm fans and replaced it with 40mm silent fans. becuase why would i enjoy a quiet duet stepper driver only to install a lil 30mm turboprob engine ..and maybe 2-3 of them on the effector?

            Hi Simon,

What is the part number for the Sunon Maglev 30mm fan and is it 24V ? Having trouble finding it.

I secured the e3d h/s cooling fan (25x25x10mm 24V) in its slot in shroud with a smear of RTV/Silicon and it reduced the rattling a lot. I replaced one of the other 2 part cooling fans as it was very unbalanced.
Much improved now, but I don't like these high rpm fans. Small size needs a high rpm for flow rate.

Anyone done a mod for the smart effector using a remote aquarium air pump, silicon tubing and ring shaped nozzle/rose ?

all except for the aquarium pump yes you will need a peristaltic type pump that can shift at least 5l/min at a high back pressure
such as the BerdAir system from Makerhive

Traditionally the fan mounts on the e3d aluminium heatsink.
Is there any drawback if it was designed in a way that is integrated with the part cooling fan mount which relies on the ball stud screw, instead of snapping the mount onto the aluminium heatsink? I can leave a 1mm gap between the fan mount and aluminium fins to prevent the fan mount from interfering with the sensor but I'm trying to think if there is any drawbacks doing this.

I used this same mount except there is an extended version on the same page. It has been working great for several months now and I even printed it in PLA.
