Bipolar 8 wires paralle or Series Duet WIFI?

Hi, for the connection in bipolar mode 8 wires the connection must you be in paralle with a Duet WIFI?
Thanks
Chris

To be clear, you’re taking about an 8-wire bipolar stepper motor, right?

Yes! I use a stepper motor that is 8 wire, so I want to know if I should connect them in series or parallel

For a 3d printer, parallel will let the motor run much faster. But you will need twice as much drive current. Do you have motor specs or datasheet?

Here is the information of the step motor!

Use the series configuration. The rated current for that motor in the parallel configuration is 6A, which is too high for the stepper drivers on the Duet.

Oof, yeah, use series. That parallel winding is way outside what a small chopping driver can do. Even aside from the 6A rated current, I think you’d have problems with the extremely low inductance/resistance screwing up microstepping.

Ok!
Thanks dc42 and RCarlyle
