I have created a wiki page on the DueX5 and DueX2 at https://duet3d.com/wiki/DueX2_and_DueX5_expansion_boards (it's linked to from the main page). Those of you who have pre-production boards coming might like to think about how you will mount them, and print any necessary parts in advance. The DueXn board size and mounting hole positions are exactly the same as the Duet WiFi, except of course there is no protruding WiFi antenna.

We're recommending that the Duet WiFi and DueX5 are mounted back-to-back. This keeps the ground wire between the two VIN terminal blocks short, which is important, and facilitates using a single cooling fan to blow air over both boards - in particular, between the boards so that the undersides of both boards get cooled. I hope some of you will design cool (literally) printable enclosures or mounting systems for the Duet WiFi + DueX5.

If you are able to mount the Duet WiFi + DueX5 back to back and vertically, with air able to flow under the bottom edge of each board, between the boards and escape at the top to the side of the ribbon cable, then you probably won't need to use a fan.

That's a bugger. I went to great pains to run separate cables from my power supply to the separate enclosure I've made for the forthcoming Duex5. Never mind - it's only a bit or wire and plastic.

David, can I get away with a nice thick ground wire, with ferrules, that's about 60mm long? It'll be good if I can, then I can keep the separate enclosures which I've designed with fans that blow onto the back of the boards. They mount on the frame uprights, one above the other but if I turn the Duex through 180degrees, the terminals will be very close to each other.

Yes, a thick 60mm ground wire should be OK.
