What makes you think it has failed?

And I think you mean 7i, not I7.

There is what seems to be a small led that lights up at the based of the screen but that is it.

Did you hit the erase button on the paneldue? Maybe reflashing the firmware will get it working again.

Otherwise it should be under warranty.

The backlight inverter is still working then. As @timcurtis67, it may just be that you have pressed the Erase button. Disconnect the PanelDue from the Duet, connected it to a PC via USB, and see if the Bossa programming port appears (in Device Manager under COM ports, if using Windows).

Sorry for the late replay. The Bossa Program Port does show up in device manager. So what's next. Does have to be flashed?

You have erased the firmware, likely by pressing the erase button. Considering that, you should reflash the firmware, as timcurtis67 mentioned.

                  From a quick Google:

Check that the enclosure you have mounted the PanelDue in isn't pressing the Erase button.

Hi I have flashed the firmware many times which has made no difference, still just the led.
                      Thanks

How did you flash the firmware? If you used Bossa, did you check the Erase All, Lock, and Boot To Flash boxes? After flashing, you need to either power the PanelDue down and up again or press the Reset button (not the Erase button!) to restart it with the new firmware.

Hey sorry I wasnt aware of of Bossa or having to flash firmware for the screen. I have flashed the firmware and all is working again perfectly.
                            Thanks for all your help.

@james3d, I'm glad you got it working again. We hope eventually to support updating PanelDue firmware through the Duet web interface, but for now it has to be done through the PanelDue USB connector.

What should I do if it DOES NOT show up in device manager?!

                                • The panel was working fine with 1.04 firmware... Thought I would give it a go to update it... Windows will NOT recognize it being plugged in.
(No usb connection sound, no ports shown in device manager)

I have since hit the erase button, and now I have nothing but a blank screen and can't connect to update the firmware 😞

@mogal are you using a relatively modern computer/OS. I would try a known working for data USB cable/port just to be 100% sure. erasing the firmware should make it show up as a BOSSAC programming port.

Something to try, is the instructions here:
https://duet3d.dozuki.com/Guide/1.)+Getting+Connected+to+your+Duet/7#s5 it know its for a duet not a paneldue but the instructions on how to see if a driver needs installing for the port should be the same.

👍 Awesome! Its connected! BUT! I still have a blank screen.
(It seems like it was a driver issue after all - Thanks for the link)

So the more I get into this, seems like I have a ripped off screen/controller. There is no version number or other identifying markings. (A friend bought this off alibaba I believe)
From DC42's GITHUB page, I had to use the -v2-7.0 bin file to get a successful flash. (but still get a blank screen)
Still trying to sort this out, but at least its connected, so there is still hope!

Thanks, I'll report back when I have it either running, or thrown against the wall ☺
