@zapta Oh well, each to their own. When I used to install and commission analytical equipment, using anything but a sharp tube cutter would be classed as gross negligence or gross misconduct and would have resulted in instant dismissal, due to the costly damage that any swarf or debris could cause.

@deckingman amen! but not all of the cloners are like that, I know at least one company that shoot % of the money to the original designer and one company that offered to pay royalties

That's good. Care to name them?

IIRC panucatt used to pay % of sales to smoothieware team (dunno if they still do) without anyone asking them to. Note that their board is not 1:1 clone of the smoothieboard, they actually designed their board themselves and are giving support for that board, but from what I understand they decided they should give % of sales to smoothieware team as their board is useless without smoothieware (these days it can run marlin2 but I doubt anyone who moved away from marlin ever consider going back).

As for the offer, I can't speak for others but I was offered 3 times so far to get % of sales from 3 different companies (two from PRC and one from NL) even with my designs being "unlicence" and presented only under a pseudonym (long story, weird employer, safer that way). None of those have anything to do with 3D printing but it's the same/similar thing. So I can testify those companies exist. I didn't take the money as I do believe in "unlicence" so I would not like to expose those companies.

@arhi That's a Pity - I was rather hoping for a name or two . The only situation where I might be tempted to buy a "non original" item might be if the OEM had supply chain issues (as in the current Covid crisis for example) but that I could buy a copy, knowing that the OEM would get a contribution towards their ongoing support and development costs. Never mind.

            Panucatt - that's one 🙂 related to 3d printing

I can share one more that's not 3d printing related (powedercoating related, they are improved their cyclon powder separator using my designs, and their high voltage control system is 100% copy of my design - or at least, they did in 2009 🙂 ) : Gold Splendour Painting Equipment Plant from Wuhan

It is how I got my cloned duet's and my good quality bmg clones. It was impossible to get stuff here normally from EU for a while (DHL/FEDEX only and that's min 200E for shipping + 100E here for local "spedition fee" + 10% customs + 20% VAT + + + ...) but stuff from east was arriving ok?!?!? Not sure how they managed to mess all that up but some "point our post was trying to make, many months of the strike .. and other shenanigans". Now is for e.g. 180 degree different, no shipment from PRC (what used to be free shipping is no 40$+) but trade with the Western countries is normally functioning (DHL/FedEX still too expensive but normal post operates without a problem)

@arhi Remind me what part of the world you are in. I think you've mentioned it before but I don't remember.

                    Update:

It is confirmed, the problem is a restriction / speed bump in the hot end.
It haven't had time to isolate it as I am busy printing but everything works fine using the secondary filament path.

Again, thanks for your help !
