Duet3 issues

Over the last week I have been running into a bunch of weird issues... I finally decided I am not crazy, and making mistakes in the slicer while printing items trying to calibrate a new printer.
All of these issues are random...
The printer is not turning on the fan...
Temp is lower then it should be.
The print freezes mid movement. If I pause/start the print, it will continue, but at some random point in the future it will freeze again. If I rerun the same print again, it can print no issues.I keep overwriting the gcode with a new file thinking I screwed it up so I don't have anything to share. (sorry, I just realized this was an issue and not me).
I only started to catch on to this an hour ago when the hotend should have been at 220c. I paused the print because the quality was bad, and just before I canceled it, I noticed the hotend was at 200c, and the standby temp was at 160c (I believe the standby temp was correct). I opened up the gocode, and at the begging, I could read, the temp was set to 220c.
I have only seen the issue with the temp happen one or two times, but haven't been keeping track as I have been thinking it was my mistake. The others seem to be a repeating problem over the last few days (but still very random). I just updated the RPi and rebooted it to see if that fixes any issues for this next test. My Duet3 has been running on 3.1.1 since I got it a month or so ago.
Does this sound like any known issues the Duet3?Thanks!

The fan didn't turn on at all while this was running. I just started the print over again, and can see the fan is running. (I generally start the fan after the 2nd layer, and gradually increase it.)

Which firmware version are you running? Are you using standalone mode or running witb SBC attached?

I am running it with an attached SBC (RPi 4), but not doing anything else with it.

Does the fan work if you manually send M106 S255?
Work is progressing on 3.2 beta and a release candidate should be coming pretty soon. There are a number of improvements and fixes for running an SBC.

I didn't send M106 to the printer when I saw it wasn't working, but quickly went to DWC and turned the fan on 100% and it worked. I have printed 3 calibration prints like the one I shared. v2 (shared gcode) I printed twice, with the 2nd attempt working without issue. -
Yes, but does sending M106 S255 work reliably? Since that's what your slicer is using to start the fan.
What is the fan configuration in config.g? Perhaps the fan needs a longer blip time to get started.

So far the fan has only failed me on 2 prints that I am aware of because the damage was so bad. (out of 30+ prints?)
Even if the fan didn't turn on at the 2nd layer, it should have turned on it was set to 100%.I don't think I have changed this from default setting since I started to use ideaMaker.
This is an example, but may not have been the layer/fan speed used in the example prints.

Is it worth upgraded to the current beta build on the Deut3, or do you think I could run into other unpredictable problems I will have a hard time with?

Looking at other benchy test prints... I do see at least one where I can confirm I had overheating issues when I shouldn't have. it looks like the fan turned on, but wasn't spinning at 100%. Maybe it accepted a lower speed M106 command, but never received the one for 100%.

I think beta 4.1 is in pretty good shape now. If you want to play it safe wait a day or two for a release candidate build.

I just received a distribution board, and two tool boards (to improve IDEX wiring) I know I will need to upgrade. I am really looking forward to being able to update everything easily (including the PanelDue). Wanting to try out that single feature is making it hard for me to not just jump on the Beta builds....
But if it is only a day or two out... I should be able to hold out a little longer.

Well it's not like it would explode or anything if you were to try it. Maybe just a bit of hassle possibly.
