      Hi,

      I have been configuring a Duet 3 6HC with a Smart Effector.

All was progressing well (yesterday) The effector green lights were working correctly. A knock on the extruder nozzle indicated the correct response.

So fast forward to today, On powering up the printer the green light did not show, no flashes or indication at all.

I have checked the voltage at the smart effector and its giving 3.3v across vcc and gnd

I have completely disconnected the effector from the Duet board and have supplied it with 3.3v from a bench power supply. Still no lights showing on the effector.

What is surprising is the fact that the effector is drawing 530ma @3.3v.

Any thoughts on the way forward?

Are you quite certain that you connected the 3.3V supply with the correct polarity?

Is the Duet that it was connected to behaving normally?

@dc42 Yesterday It seemed fine. The other issue I have noticed today is that the hotbed (Set on 0) is giving some strange results and is throwing errors in regards time to heat up. Its showing a slow heat rate and coming up with errors in both bang bang and PID modes

What firmware version? Have you PID tuned the heaters yet?

@Phaedrux The config file (zip) was created using the RRF Config tool yesterday, with the "Get the latest stable RepRapFirmware version" box ticked.

I have ran the PID tuning routine and after running it three times the bed heating is now working really well (15amp at 24v)

So that just seems to leave the smart effector issue. Its still not working properly. Have got a replacement on its way from E3D so hopefully that will prove the installation. If that works then its a failed effector board.

The replacement board (which I paid for in full for expediency) seems the quickest way to check the issue.

Will post the results once it arrives.

                    Hi,

The new Smart Effector has arrived from E3D, I have swapped over the boards and its now working correctly. (Wiring has not been changed)

I have had a close look at the board and can see no sign of any issues.

What do I need to do to make a warranty claim (I have informed E3D)

Just to confirm, when and where was the original smart effector purchased?

30th Nov 2020 - from E3D. (I have only just got to setting it up...)

Thanks. Please contact E3D and initiate a warranty exchange/refund/return (since you already have the replacement). Include a link to this thread as authorization.

Thanks for your help. Will try and get the board replaced as it will be good to have a second effector with a different size of nozzle. I am very pleased with the Due Panel / Duet 3 6HC and the smart effector. You mention on the Duet 3d website that you stock the magballs for Haydn rods. It seems that E3D do not list them. How do I buy them (from you?) to set up the second effector when the board arrives?

No problem. Having a spare can make troubleshooting much simpler.
