    Hello,

I need to wire an alarm to a drive to the Duet WiFi. Which would be the best pins to connect the alarm to and should I use a sourcing or sinking output?

    Thanks in advance!

      Use a sinking output.

If you have a free endstop you can use that (along with a trigger macro to take an action when the pin changes state).

@dc42 can ALM connect to ENC_A in the CONN_LCD header? What does COM0 connect to?

So I'm fitting a household fire alarm and solenoid activated co2 fire extinguisher to my large printer once I've built the enclosure. That is assuming I don't get random alarms from just the print fumes.

Should I / can I use an endstop input and a macro to trigger a shutdown equivalent to power failure, before disconnecting the mains power?

Any constructive thoughts would be great.

            Cheers

Do you mean to save the position for power loss recovery? Simply using the pause command should allow for the same data to be saved.

The CONN_LCD pins have no input protection at all, so I don't recommend a direct connection. A simple and safe alternative would be to use an opto isolator and a couple of resistors.
