Laser Filament sensor with Microswitch

I am trying to install my laser filament monitors for my two extruders e0 and e1 and have these lines in my config sys file;-
M591 D0 P6 C"E0stop" R40:120 E3.0 S1
M591 D1 P6 C"E1stop" R40:120 E3.0 S1
I have a filament presence switch wired as well as I had this feature in my extruder feeder.
when I Send a M591 D0 or D1, I get the following response;-

"Duet3D laser filament monitor v1 with switch on pin e0stop, enabled, allow 40% to 120%, check every 3.0mm, calibration factor 1.000, no data received"

What are the LED status at startup?
Filament must be present to get a signal?
I note that neither of the led`s on the Duet main boards between the E0 and E1 motor plugs light.

How can I know this is functioning correctly?
I am not getting any led lights on the filament laser sensor boards.
Any clarification appreciated.

@mendelevium THIS page says you should see a red and green LED bling when you apply power to the sensor.

On startup, after a few seconds the green LED on the filament monitor will flash 3 times if initialisation and self-test are successful.
The green and red LEDs will then flash periodically indicating communication to the Duet.
If the filament is moving, the green LED will flash more frequently.

If initialisation or self test fail, the red LED will flash an error code (currently this is always 5 flashes).
It will retry every few seconds.

Do you see those patterns of flashing?

It maybe the configuration.
I had another configuration

it was...
M591 D0 P6 C3 R40:120 E3.0 S0
M591 D1 P6 C4 R40:120 E3.0 S0

it was flashing when I powered on, however I modified and sorted the heat controls and from then onwards its not flashing....

looks really dead... possibly incorrectly configured.

@mendelevium All it need to do the self-test flashing is power and ground.

Can you measure the voltage at the sensor's power and ground pins and make sure it's got power?

I think you might just have a bad power or ground wire or connection. You might be close to getting it running!

I have checked the voltage and I do have them on the board but I do not have them at the plug...I will have to check everything because I have heavy connectors from the control to the machine and I believe something has come loose when I connected the thermistors....

Thanks again my friend... I found out that the ground wire was a bit short and I pulled it out from the ferrule of the connector...
