Hotend fan direction?
-
which way should the hotend fan blow? Towards the hotend or suck air over the hotend?
P.S: I got dual drive extruder with Mosquito hotend -

Towards -
@user3d normally the fan blows towards the hotend.
But when your fans for the dual setup are vis-à-vis, then i think it is better one fan blows towards the hotend and the other one is sucking over the hotend. To get a better airflow... -

Thank you -

Thats my current setup, but I'm getting heater faults at hotend whose fan sucks air that is toward hotend. Hence the doubt !

@user3d said in Hotend fan direction?:
I'm getting heater faults
have you tried to make a pid-tuning?
-
@cosmowave Yup! I've even noticed that that side of hotend takes longer to heat up and clogging issue is there too!
-
Given how efficient the mosquito is I'm surprised you're getting clogging. Maybe post a photo of your assembly?

@user3d Recently I in an enclosure I had the air from copperhead hotend blowing over my ABS part and causing warp, so I found out that the small 25 mm slice fan (same for mosquito and copperhead) blows a lot of air to the side direction. The fastest fix was to rotate the fan to suck with small shroud to point air up. Worked great for drafts, but I started to get partial clogs.

@user3d
I've made fan shrouds from color-changing PLA, just to see if there is any difference in fan-direction.
The color changes from orange to yellow above 33°C
I could see changes with different filament temps, but not related to fan direction.
