I've seen it mentioned a few times on the forums, but I was just wondering if there is an option yet to purchase the ethernet daughterboard. I want to convert my Duet Wifi to a ethernet version. I have a hot air gun and do quite a bit of reflow work, so it shouldn't be too bad.

Send an email to info at duet3d.com with your enquiry.

FYI I now have a couple of samples of the ESP-07S wifi module with external antenna, which I intend to try in the Duet WiFi.

          Just sent an email, thanks!

Off topic, but can I ask where you learned so much about ARM development?

I have gone through your code quite a bit, and how you managed to integrate ASF with Eclipse I don't think I'll ever understand. Do you have any books that you would recommend?

@David may I ask what is the actual ESP version you are using on the current Duet Wifi boards?

Ah. Well the chip is the same exact thing shown here:
                  https://www.adafruit.com/product/2471

And based on what I kind find showing the different versions (and the KiCad schematic on Github) - I believe it is an ESP12.
                  The schematic says ESP-12E

It's an ESP-12F on current Duet WiFi boards.

With my current wifi woes, id prefer an ethernet version, although i have confidence the wifi will be solved eventually.

It does lead one to dream of a future duet version where the wifi/ethernet portion is swap-able. Each on a daughter-board that attaches so one can switch at a later date with a nominal cost if their situation and requirements change..

For the next generation Duet (Duet N2G) we're looking at the possibility of offering both WiFi and Ethernet on one board.

That would be the ideal - Ethernet where there is a fixed installation and Wi-fi elsewhere.

That said, the latest firmware iterations have had a lot more stable connections so looking forwards to the best of both worlds!
