    • RE: Laser Filament Monitor - test results

Received the filament sensor earlier this week and printed a case (the default one on Thingiverse) in black PLA.

Initial results with the filaments I had to hand as follows:

      0_1533838940141_479b6683-6b93-424a-a12c-a43f1aa04515-image.png

Currently running a 28 hour print using the yellow PLA and sensor enabled with the current state:

      SENDING:M591 D0
Duet3D laser filament monitor on endstop input 3, enabled, allowed movement 40% to 120%, check every 3.0mm, current position -7.0, brightness 89, shutter 15, measured minimum 78%, average 94%, maximum 114% over 43930.2mm

I haven't yet tried alternative case designs - planning to take a look at that later.

I also have a Prusa I3 mk3 for comparison and my initial impressions of the sensor are very positive.

I need to do more testing of filament sensing and failing along with recovery processes. I do like the way the Prusa will pause, prompt you and eject/reload filament with just a few clicks on the control panel. I am not sure yet how we can define macros to perform similar functions since I think we would need access to the filament sensor state but that is for another day ... 🙂

Please add me to the beta test list also. I am happy to test and report and plan to buy several for my machines on release.

    • RE: Ethernet Daughterboard?

That would be the ideal - Ethernet where there is a fixed installation and Wi-fi elsewhere.

That said, the latest firmware iterations have had a lot more stable connections so looking forwards to the best of both worlds!

    • RE: Major differences between IR Sensors and FSR Sensors for bed leveling?

      I would be interested also!

Planning a new delta with Duet Ethernet and Robotdigg 2040 parts. It will be interesting to see how magnetic balls/arms compare with the traxxas versions I have been using.

    • RE: Automatic XY skew calibration

I agree that this is a feature that is most useful to new users with specific hardware ( Prussia i3 mk2).

But then again, should we not include support for those who most need it rather than just support the experienced and competent users? It seems that this kind of sense/compensate feature has uses in multi-axis/cnc applications and it would be good to support it - but not perhaps at the top of the list!

    • RE: Firmware wishlist and priorities for Duet WiFi and Duet Ethernet

      My vote(s):

1 - There is a need to be more tenacious about finding and then keeping a connection where there are many competing wifi routers. It is the most frustrating aspect at the moment especially in the evening when everyone in the area is going online!
7 - Dynamic stepping for my delta …
16 - Better temp control is always good.
18 - This is mostly a convenience but would be handy.
17 - Helps to keep track of usage for maintenance etc.

    • RE: Telnet support

@tomasf Is this not already possible through the console interface? Or am I misunderstanding?

As I see it, telnet (or ssh) would be useful to send the print via Gcode instead of the SD or USB direct from a slicer such as S3d but interactive Gcode is already possible on the web interface.

    • RE: Batch1 production and testing update

Postie also delivered me two DuetWiFis, various sensors and boards and a couple of PanelDues - still drooling 🙂

Next is upgrading the BigBox electronics (keeping the Octoprint for the camera), heater block and sensor upgrades for my delta and possibly an upgrade for my venerable Mendel90 or maybe something new - decisions, decisions … 😄

Many thanks for your excellent work getting these out despite PCB issues.

    • RE: Black on Blue Silkscreen - Delay

@T3P3Tony - I would be happy to take blue/black for my order (Order #107) - I need one yesterday for a current project but the other could wait 🙂 . I do need the addons ASAP though.

Shame about the PCB issue though, trust all will be resolved soon.
