Duet3 6HC unable to connect to SBC
-
Hello, I recently purchased a genuine 6HC board as a replacement for cloned 6HC board. The new board appears to startup correctly based on the LEDs, but it never connects to the SBC. FWIW, I'm using an RPI4B. I tried updating the boards firmware, and using fresh install of DuetPI on the SBC. Regardless, the board never connects to the SBC. The exact same setup works correctly with the cloned board, so I'm assuming it's a hardware issue. But I'm open to investigating other possibilities if anyone has a suggestion?

@kengoodhope there doesn't happen to be an sd card in the new board is there?
-
Does the board work in standalone mode?
Do you see any errors in the SBC console?
-
@blt3dp Sorry for the slow reply. no there wasn't an SD card in the new board.
-
@phaedrux Sorry for the slow reply, the SBC console just says "failed to connect to duet3" in a bright red popup. I haven't tried the board in standalone mode, and I'm not sure how to get at any more verbose logs?

Take a look at this section.

@phaedrux Since I have a cloned 6HC board that works without issue using the all the same hardware: SBC, ribbon cable, etc.., I don't think this is a problem with my setup. FWIW, and in case you're wondering why I'm posting if I have a clone board that is working, I bought the genuine board after buying the clone because I wanted to support Duet3. Unfortunately, I'm not altruistic enough to settle for the clone board after having paid the full price the genuine Is it possible I can get an RMA?

@kengoodhope did you try the OG duet board in standalone mode? If it works without SBC you can at least rule out the duet as a point of failure, I think
-
@kengoodhope what's you're best off doing is getting the board working in standalone mode first. That way you can upgrade the firmware to the same version of DSF you're running the on the SBC. Then try and connect them

Yes provided we can identify the problem.
You say you've updated the firmware on the board. How did you do that and what firmware did you use?
Does the board respond to commands via USB terminal? Can you send M122 and copy paste the results?
Have you tried setting it up in standalone mode yet?

This will at least let us know if the board is alive or not.
If it is, we can try and gather some information from the SBC side to see what is actually happening.
