Duet 2 and BL Touch
-
everything is basicly standard from the configurator tool.
I removed the bltouch from my m3d quad and the one from my CR-10 Max including the cables.
but now after a complete weekend trying i gave up.

@jl-p is your bltouch really 100mm away from your probe in X and Y?
Your homing files look ok. -
@jay_s_uk no I tried something's. I though it was the location where it should probe because my bed start at 17. From the end stop

@jl-p
I also had problems with the BLTouch on exp.heater3.
I then connected exp.heater7 and since then everything is OK.
Somewhere in the depths of this forum or the Duet instructions I read something that could cause problems with exp.heater3.
Since it was all a long time ago, I can't tell you the reason for this and I just tried to find this info again... but without success. If exp.heater7 is not yet occupied, it would be worth a test to reconnect the cable from exp.heater3 to exp.heater7 and to adapt the config.g.

From your files it all looks ok, but you're saying when you send G30 the probe doesn't deploy? Where are your deployprobe.g and retractprobe.g files located? Where are your homing files located? They should be in the sys folder along side config.g. In the past I've seen someone have similar issues because the files they were editing were located in the macros folder, and the files that were actually being used were in sys.

@norder Thx that did the trick.
Stil no idea why the other one isnt working because the default deployment works fine.
Thx for your help

Thx for your help
very gladly.
I invested another 30 minutes this morning to find this information to prefer the Heater7 in certain cases.
Unfortunately I couldn't find the info again. The info is also a few years old and is therefore more likely to be found on the dozuki server than on the duet3d server.
It's just too long ago to remember exactly.
I'm also a bit older (grandpa twice)Maybe @dc42 knows more about why you should use Heater7 instead of Heater3 for the BLTouch in certain cases?
It had nothing to do with an expansion board though as I don't have one and the Heater7 info concerned me.
There was also no RRF3 for the Duet Wifi at the time. It's brain terror when you can't think of certain things and you know roughly where they are... but you can't find them. Grrrr
Nice that your printer is working again.

@norder I'm not sure if there was ever an issue with using heater 3! I have tested it many times, and never found an issue. The only mistake I have seen repeatedly, because the picture showing the connections isn't that great, was that users didn't connect to the heater 3 pin but to the pin above. It can look like the pin the yellow wire connects to is on the top row of pins, when it is actually the bottom row, in the picture below.

@droftarts
That's a possibility I thought of at first too, but then I realized why I don't use Heater3 for my BLTouch. In my case, I have always checked the Board-Diagram for every cable that I have connected to the Duet over the course of time.
Back then... yes, it's been a few years... my BLTouch on Heater3 didn't work.
Then I leave this info and switched to Heater7 and everything worked as requested.
I rule out 99.9% that I took the wrong pin at the time, because I checked it very often when it wasn't working.Presumably every duet has a soul or a life of its own... for some like that for others like that !?
I hope that someone finds this info text or can confirm it... otherwise people still think I'm crazy or a storyteller. LOL

LOL
