      @achrn The nice thing about Sunon is that you get an actual data sheet.

      http://portal.sunon.com.tw/pls/portal/sunonap.sunon_html_d_pkg.open_file?input_file_name=7264646F632F3230313530372F3231333033302F5F443035303535303230472D30305F2D325B315D2E706466

      They claim temps up to 50c. I'm not sure about angle of mounting. I would think that the maglev would be superior to ball bearing, but that's just my hunch. They make no recommendation on orientation. I've been running one at a 45 degree angle for a number of years now without issue.

      Obviously, having PWM control over the fan would be ideal. Always on wouldn't be advisable for anything but PLA. There's no risk of damage to the fan or board from running it always on though.

        @Phaedrux can't wait to try the Sunon.

        Based on what you all have said, I ordered a few Mosfets and there is a little computer repair shop near here that I'm going to talk to.

          Here is the carriage configuration. I think heat and angles shouldn't be a problem.

            @Phaedrux Struggling to find any Sunon 24v blowers in stock :-(. I'll keep looking. But, the blowers at digikey seem like a notch up from what I've been using so, if I can't find a 24v Sunon, I'll probably try one of these:

              @jrwaters2

              If you look at page 11 of 14 in the linked pdf file (@Phaedrux post), item 7 specifically says not to use PWM on either + or ground to control speed.

              I recall seeing something a while back about the Sunon fans with mag-lev bearings not working well with variable speed via PWM. These fans have something called "vapo bearings".

                @mrehorstdmd And yet it works perfectly well down to about 15% speed.

                  @Phaedrux and @mrehorstdmd this is part of what I love about 3d printing. There is as much devil and as much detail as you could ever want . . .

                    @jrwaters2 some sunon fans don't play well with PWM and are either on or off. I believe the feature is "auto restart" and the fan reboots if it's not spinning when it thinks it should. Essentially you need a sunon without a letter A at the end of the model number

                      @jay_s_uk that is extremely helpful - thank you! Most 24v Sunon's are out of stock. I did find one from Mellow on Ali Express that claims to be a genuine Sunon and even has information on how to tell a genuine from a fake. Its the same price as from DigiKey but they have in stock

                      I was going to order from someone like DigiKey or Filastruder or Matter Hackers but that doesn't seem to be an option at the moment.

                      Interestingly, the Mellow one states "Upgrade: New fan support voltage to adjust wind speed"

                        @jrwaters2 the mellow ones are ok as far as I'm aware.
