Who among us is building, has built, or plans to start building dc42's Kossel? I'm working my way through the BOM on aliexpress, etc. Already found some things that don't appear on the sites listed in the BOM. Like the corner extrusions are not on robotdigg.

@3dmntbighker You might be interested in the kit from Think3DPrint3D: https://www.think3dprint3d.com/3D-Printer-Kits/complete-3D-printer-kits/Kossel-XLplus-3dPrinter-Kit

          I'll give it some thought.

edit: Actually, that kit is looking better and better. The shipper is DHL, and pretty affordable. They suck, but that's a good price. DHL is Fed-Ex Ground over here as far as I know. And Fed-Ex Ground is the worst. The only thing I immediately see that I would change is a magnetic PEI bed surface. But it's a VERY solid kit. Machined 2060 is a nice touch.

You mean the aluminium vertices? https://www.robotdigg.com/m/product/555/2040-or-3030-Alu-Vertex-for-Kossel-XXL-or-XXXL

I'm currently building a new delta to replace my current SeeMeCNC Rostock v2, and am using David's blog as a guide. I have built it to the same size, but many of the items I sourced on my own. I'm in the US, and for example I used the RobotDigg corners, but got them as "scratch & dent" from Ultibots, and my extrusion is from OpenBuilds.

I built a delta that funnily enough turned out to be extremely similar to DC42's build. I actually didn't find his blog post until most stuff was ordered.

Then again, if you have the mindset of "nothing weaker then 2040, no printed parts in the kinematics or frame, duet"... you kind of automatically end up with something very similar to DC42's build 😄

I built a DC42 Kossel, but one thing I could not source was the linear rail, I went taller (~1.8m) and although at the time I worked out my BOM when it came to ordering, RobotDigg cancelled my order and other sellers in Ali Express either said they had it and then didn't, or in one case agreed a discount for 3 lengths and then took the order and then wanted more money. They eventually refunded.

In the end I went with the think3d carriages and shaped wheels that run up the 2040 extrusions which so far i have been quite happy with, but ultimately I would like to get linear rails.

                    @dc42 My bad, I mis-read the description when I saw 2020 x 6.

                    Thanks 🙂

Ultibots is out of scratch and dent, and their shipping is pretty high. So is Openbuilds for that matter 😞 But a LOT faster that aliexpress of course.

For the record in this thread these kits are currently NOT available. I contacted them, and he says he has too much on his plate related to Duet to fill any orders. Apparently a deal is pending to offload the work to someone else. But at the moment it's a dry hole.

It's worth asking them if they can supply partial mechanical kits, because I understand that they have some sets of linear rails, corners, extrusions etc. still.

beside....1350€ is alot...have a similar build and all together its about 700-800€

                            Corner

                            Rails

                            Extrusions from Motedis
                            Smart effecor...duet Wifi..
                            Stepper from stepperonline

ok..many of the small parts like srews etc i had already at home. Beside its quite nice to improve the design...for example build it upside down with steppers on top so you can build it with a smaller footprint

That's exactly what I asked him as a matter of fact, and the answer was no.

I would be surprised if you can can reproduce that build kit for that price. One major advantage of the kit is a custom wire harness with actual copper wire. Chinese parts come with cheap wire that has caused me all sorts of issues. It's a very well thought out BOM. If you compromise quality though I'm sure you can reduce the cost greatly. Always the balancing act.
