I purchased a Duet Wifi board from E3D in July of this year. Apart from a few minor set up issues, the board has been working perfectly to my expectations.

A couple of days ago, mid way through a 3 hour print the Y stepper motor started making some rather nasty grinding noises and randomly oscillating forwards and backwards.

On checking the forum posts I came across a couple of similar problems. Most likely causes of the problem were a badly crimped cable between the board and the motor or a failed stepper driver.

I tried replacing both the cable and the stepper motor but the problem remained.

I then tried David's solution of using the E1 driver with suitable mods to the Config.G file. Bingo. The Y stepper is again working perfectly and the printer is working perfectly.

On David's advice that this would be a warranty claim, I emailed E3D. They have come back with this response:

*With the Duet products all the technical support is done via the forum, you will need to make a post on the duet forums and if the duet team think it should be replaced they will give you a warranty form to fill out.

When you have got a response from duet could you email the link here?*

So my question is, is this the correct procedure? If so, could someone email me a form please.

Where was this posted? This post would be enough for E3D, you could link them to it.

@elmoret E3D were quite specific about the need for a Warranty Form from the folks at Duet 3D.

@samlogan87 Thanks Sam but from what I can see that form can only be used for direct purchase from Duet 3D.

                I bought mine from E3D

@pierre52 Hmm, looks like that was authorization to a different person, unless you have two screen names on the forum.
