Cooling fans not working

Hi,

Before writing this I read a few posts with the same issue. But unable to locate the exact issue properly.

Neither the always on fans or other fans (0,1,2) work.

I have checked the continuity between the main Vins and the Vin at the V fan jumper select and there is continuity.

I also checked the continuity between the main Vins and the V_fan at the V fan jumper select and there is no continuity here.

Should I connect a wire between the mains Vin and the V_fan pin at the V fan jumper select position

Is there a jumper present at all on the Vfan block?

The idea is to install the jumper either connected VIN and VFAN or 5v and VFAN to provide the fans with either VIN voltage or 5v. You can also use the VFAN pin to input your own separate voltage supply (usually 12v when using a 24v PSU)

Is your jumper in right place at fans jumper select? Can you post picture of it?

@phaedrux There is no jumper between the Vin and V_fan or V_fan and 5v pin.

There is a jumper on another set of pins nearby.

The jumper connects INT 5v EN and GND pin these two pins are right next to the V fan jumper select pins

Should I remove this jumper and connect the Vin and Vfan or add a new jumper ?

You need another jumper, dont remove existing one. Connect Vin and V_fan with new jumper if you fans support Vin input voltage, or put that jumper on V_fan and 5v if your fans are rated to 5v. Look at https://duet3d.dozuki.com/Wiki/Connecting_and_configuring_fans

Thanks a lot !!

I just did that and the always on fans are now working, I am assuming that fan 0 and 1 will work as well.

Another off topic question, I tried heating the hotend but it failed to do so, does the heater only work if all the axes are homed ?

You can heat the hot end without the printer being homed, but you must have a tool selected so that the firmware knows what you want to heat. Normally tools are numbered from zero (the numbering is defined by the P parameters in your M563 commands in config.g). So try sending T0 to select tool 0, then try heating it.

If that doesn't work, send M569 P0 to query tool 0, to check that it has been defined with a heater.
