    • RE: Attempt to move motors when VIN is not in range

@dc42 said in Attempt to move motors when VIN is not in range:

Something odd is happening if connecting the PanelDue causes the VIN reading reported by DWC to drop. My best guess is that in the cable connecting PanelDue to the Duet, the Dout pin is shorted to the +5V pin. Or perhaps you are connecting the PanelDue cable to the wrong connector on the Duet?

Due to the risk of damaging the Duet, I recommend that you do not connect the PanelDue until you have resolved that.

I found the problem. It was the two jumpers which were on the second z step. After I removed them the web shows 24V and the PanelDue is also pluged in. Maybe there is some issue in the circuit. But now everything seems to be fine. fingers crossed

Edit: Not the two jumpers are the issue. It's the 10pin cable from the PanelDue if I connect it to the Duet 2 then the voltage drops. The other 4 pin cable have no effect on the voltage.

Edit 2: Oh man shame on me... I connected the 10pin cable to the conn_lcd because of his labeling but it should connect to the conn_sd. I'm so sorry.

My apologies, I didn't intend to sound sarcastic. It was just that a quick google search turned up several options in multiple sizes.

      Here's a 330x330 24v: https://www.aliexpress.com/item/3D-Printer-MK2A-MK3A-Aluminium-Heatbed-Thermistor-Build-Surface-Sheet-300mm/32948965327.html

I bought now this one https://www.roboter-bausatz.de/833/mk2a-heizbett-300x300-mm because the one from aliexpress would take nearly one month to be send to me. But with your link I got the right model and found a lot of matches. Big thanks.

    • RE: Extruding stops after a few minutes

After testing a lot with different settings and different filaments / manufactors my result is that the SunLu PLA+ is not a good filament and the diameter is changing at the print. I tested a lot of filaments but every other filament was printed very well.
So don't try the SunLu PLA+, you'll waste your money.
Thank to @Phaedrux your guess was right.

      What's your extruder?

Last time I had this problem, it was the heat from the extruder motor melting the filament as it was being driven.

Which explains why it happens exactly 20 minutes after a print, and why pausing a print would fix it, because the motor cools a bit.

I use the standard extruder that comes with the printer. I don't stop print I pull and push the filament on a running print.
The filament don't melt at the extruder it's more like what Phaedrux said. At some point the extruder start clicking and can't push the filament anymore. I've got the feeling that the point from Phaedrux with the retraction could be the problem. I just have to test it tomorrow.

Try reducing retraction a bit to see if it helps. I'm not familiar with the Chimera hotend, but maybe you can find some retraction distance guidance from E3D.

I've found that the Sunlu PLA+ does swell at the melted end quite a bit, so maybe test with some other filaments as well to see if it's different.

Ok, I will try with a different filament from a different producer and take a look if this could be the problem.
I will go tomorrow to a shop and buy some filament for the test. After my tests I will give you feedback. 🙂

How much retraction are you using? It's possible that you're pulling the bulging end too high into the heat break where it can get stuck.

I checked my retraction at Cura and it is 3.5mm. But it's sounds like this could be possible issue.

Have you done a cold pull of the nozzle to try and clear any blockages?

Of course, I have cleaned the nozzle, pulled out the filament, cut off the melted end and put it back in.

What does your temperature graph look like?

The temperature is straight and got a difference from +- 3°C.

@phaedrux said in Extruding stops after a few minutes:

What kind if filament is it?

Actually I'm trying to print PLA+ filament from Sunlu. Diameter 1,75mm.

@phaedrux said in Extruding stops after a few minutes:

Have you tried raising the temperature?

Yes I have tried raising the temperature but still same problem. I increased from 210°C to 225°C. Increasing the temperature in +5°C steps.

Is the part cooling fan blowing on the heater block?

Yes, the part cooling fan is blowing a bit on the heater block but the heater block has also this silicon cover around the block.

    • Extruding stops after a few minutes

      Hi together,
Now I got another problem which I realy not understand what to do and why it's causes.
At the beginning everything is fine and it's printing realy well but then after maybe 10-20 minutes the filament don't get through the hot end - if I pull it a bit back ( 1cm ) and then push it back in it will resume printing. What could that be and how can I fix this issue?

      Printer information:
      Tronxy X5S
      Duet 2 Wifi
      PanelDue 7i
      E3D Chimera Hotend 24V
      Nozzle 0,4
      Heater Bed 24V
      1x Tool Fan 24V
      2x Part Fan 24V
      PSU 24V / 15A

Thank you in advance for the help.

@aimrabbit looks like you know the terms to google for then.

It's not that I'm tried to find one. But I only get undersized heatbeds so that's why I'm asking but if no one have an idea I have to find an other solution. And I'm don't asking just for fun... I'm asking because I'm stuck with the VIN problem from the beginning.
So I don't like your sacasm.
