    • CAN-FD Generic IO

I love the idea of an industrial spec IoT communications system for controlling parts of the machine. Reducing wiring to com+power is really attractive, especially after I spent the weekend building out a 38 wire harness to my experimental machine. Just the cost reduction in wire, connectors, cable management, etc.. make this very worth it.

My problem is finding hardware for the random IO bits I want to add. I have some tool boards on order but those are very specific. Regrettably, there isn't a very good ecosystem of inexpensive CAN-FD transceiver boards out there.

I am looking for something that is a simple, inexpensive CAN-FD transceiver that can be paired with a small SoC like an ESP32, Arduino or whatever. Better yet, a board that has the two integrated together on a small package with a nice array of IO pins and maybe some ADC.

This would be used for specialty sensors or possibly even motor control systems. I have a new filament module that I am working on that measures filament availability, tension and movement rate. It would be good to have a way to communicate this over the CAN-FD bus.

Does Duet have any plans for something like this? Is there a suggested 3rd party board we can use? I feel we have a great technology to play with but we are crippled by a lack of ways to use it.

    • RE: Voltage issues on a Tool Board 1LC

Note - I would have no issue with deleting this post and starting another with a better focus on the issues I am experiencing if you would like.

The title implies a problem that doesn't exist and that was my fault. I don't want to create a false impression.

@drobertson123 Obviously this is an IQ test for me that I failed. The voltage offset happened because the ground wire on my probe was in the wrong port of the multimeter.
The 24v reference was showing that value because I tuned the power supply using the same multimeter.

The voltages on the board look perfectly fine, just as I would expect from a Duet product.

I still have other issues. CAN-FD will only sync when the cable from the Main Board is on the Dist Board Out port and I can't seem to get the board to do anything. I am going to spend some additional time debugging now that I embarrassed myself publicly with this.

Hopefully, I can sort out the issues.

    • RE: Configure PINDA V2 on Tool Board 1LC with Temp Compensation

@Phaedrux Haha, my whole rambling description of my printer was off-topic, so no worries.

Not sure if this will trigger a spam alert, but here is the link to the keyboard.

Wireless Mini Keyboard, GAKOV GAU6 Mini 6-in-1 Smart Gamepad with Touchpad and Remote Control (Black5) (M)

I mainly use it when I am testing the printer inside the cabinet. Otherwise, I just browse to the web page from my big computer 3 ft away. In general, I am pleased with it, but I wouldn't want to use it as my main keyboard.
