    • RE: M106 - Feature Request, Limit MAX PWM parameter

      Yes, and limiting the max PWM is to mistake proof and protect against damage.

      It would be more applicable to brushed motors than brushless motors

    • M106 - Feature Request, Limit MAX PWM parameter

      It would be nice to have a M106 parameter similar to L that would limit the maximum PWM value for a fan.

      Usage:

      • I was brain dead and discovered 2 hours into a 12 hour print that I really don't want to run my fan as hard as it is to minimize heat rise in the motor. A quick command in the console saves the day to cap the maximum value.
      • Fan needs to be limited in an office environment with several newbies who are learning. Once again, brushed layer fan only wants to be run at 80% for extended period to times to reduce heat.

    • RE: Extruder "fighting" itself?

      For what it's worth, I've seen two pancake steppers from a well known extruder manufacturer fail.

      One was a short like dc42 is suggesting and the other had weak/failed permanent magnets in the rotor. Running a stepper too hot can cause both failures.

    • RE: OT: Printing delta frame corners with carbon fiber filament

      I've been using the Atomic Carbon Fiber PETG in a CoreXY for all motion components and love it.

      • It's "seems" to dissipate heat a bit better... (subjective). I recently completed a 10.5 hour print with steppers bolted right to the parts and they are running near 80% current and are quite warm. I'm not detecting an heat creep. The surface of the part is warm at the stepper, but it quickly dissipates and does not heat soak the part.
      • It's electrically conductive.
      • It's much stiffer without being to brittle.
      • Very little issue with stringing
      • Very little issue with warping (Printing on PEI at 50-55C)

      When comparing prices, Atomic Carbon filament is a full 1kg spool at less cost than a 3/4kg spool.

    • RE: Firmware 2.0RC2b/1.21.1 RC2b released

      I've just completed a 10.5 hour print on this release without issue. It appears to be stable with the exception of the weird simulation hang. After a hard reset, the simulation ran fine.

      So you've set M106 with F25500 as PWM frequency parameter? I've got the same configuration and mofset is well cooled, just asking before changing the configuration.

      Correct, I'm using F25500 on a 24V (1.03 Duet Wifi) and 12V (0.85 Duet) without issue. I've got a flyback on both. The 0.85 needs the external flyback, but the 1.03 does not. I am not using the eSwitch module.

      @gen2eng said in Firmware 2.0RC2b/1.21.1 RC2b released:

      @dc42

      It was hanging at about 41sec. I did a hard reset and simulation ran fine on a different file. After the current print job finishes, I will try again.

      I tried the simulation immediately after the upgrade. Any chance it needed a hard reset?

      I'm running on a 1.03 Duet Wifi.

      Ran it again, and it did not hang. The original hang was around 41% complete, not 41 sec.
