will look into that. The M3 button is about 1.8 mm. The M3 flat doesn't recess so it about 1.5 mm above. So these can work but leave very little room for error.

scanning z probe mounting trouble
I am switching over to the roto CAN toolboard with scanning z probe. I downloaded the SZP step file and it has the PCB at 3 mm thick which does not match what I have in hand which is ~1.22 mm. I assume this is a mistake, however...
reading the documentation it says to mount the coil 1-2 mm above the nozzle. I cannot find any fasteners that are thinner than 2mm head such that they would scrape along the bed and prevent the nozzle working. Is the thicker pub representation attempting to hide the fastener head? I can find no pictures of actual mounts.

RE: DuetLapse3
@stuartofmt Thank you for the update. I was able to install in 3.6 beta.
I am still seeing the same behavior. I removed the -verbose switch and still seeing message queue full. I am getting the long (~2 second) pauses at each layer which damages the print.
Here is how I am using: First I call M3291 B"DuetLapse3.start" in my start gcode. Then for each layer change I call M3291 B"DuetLapse3.snapshot". Finally in end gcode I call M3291 B"DuetLapse3.completed".
I don't think I understand how this plugin works. I'm not clear why I need to start anything. Isn't the snapshot command on each layer change sufficient to grab a frame? the final command I assume assembles all the frames into a video and cleans up. That's how I imagine it works (and what I want). But then other things don't make any sense to me. For example, there should be no need for anything like pause, resume, etc. because if you pause the print you will not advance any layers and thus the Timelapse, so that concept is automatic, no? I think my mental model is so different I can't figure out what I am supposed to do with all the available options.

RE: custom mcode documentation
@droftarts Funny, I searched everywhere for Mcode and it was Gcode.
Anyway, that tells me how to invoke the command but not the construction. I get that I can execute a gcode macro. But other examples are in other languages like python and something that looks like some sort of YAML or similar. What is allowed? Can I execute a system command on the SBC? It seems like this is potentially very extensible but I don't see any description of parsing and execution or available state and scope. I must be missing some key document.

RE: G30 S-1 probe fail in 3.6.0-beta4
@droftarts Yes, I reset Z to 0 with G92.
My endstop is outside of the bed area so I have to move to it.
My endstop is K1. Is not a correct set up for that?
It is working now. See my previous message.

RE: G30 S-1 probe fail in 3.6.0-beta4
I added a K1 and it works now. I do not recall adding that before but I wouldn't swear to it. So may not be a change after all.

RE: G30 S-1 probe fail in 3.6.0-beta4
@droftarts I have a mini5+, 2+, SBC. Z endstop is connected to mini5+. See config.g
I am doing this all manually through the console and 12864 menu to jog Z. I move to bed center and lower nozzle manually to grab paper. Then in increase Z +5 and go to Z endstop. I then issue G30 S-1 and it slowly lowers and stops just as it touches the top of the endstop. I just tried again and checked that I could lower the nozzle to the bed, i.e. that the range is not limited in some way. The Z endstop is almost 1mm above the bed level, meaning that G30 S-1 is stopping well above zero.
I did this procedure multiple time on 3.5.4 and it worked correctly every time.

custom mcode documentation
I have searched high and low for documentation on custom mcodes and found zero. I looked through all the RRF release notes. I have found people talking about it like it is common knowledge. I found examples which are all inconsistent in format and language. I tried some and they do not appear to work. I have a case where a custom mcode would be a perfect solution but no idea how to get started. Maybe the formal name is different. Can someone point me to the definitive documentation?

G30 S-1 probe fail in 3.6.0-beta4
I'm following https://docs.duet3d.com/en/User_manual/Connecting_hardware/Z_probe_testing to update offset after hw changes. This worked in 3.5.4.
Now on 3.6.0-beta4 the g30 s-1 stops just short of activating the Z end stop. I've turned off limits and can manually jog the bed to trigger the end stop but g30 won't go there. I tried starting closer in case there is a dive limit but no luck. It appears to be limited by what was set by G31 offset. Did this procedure change or maybe a bug?

RE: DuetLapse3
@stuartofmt I will have to try again since I just switched to 3.6. I was on 3.5.4 bookworm. I started getting odd system delays after I bumped the swap file up to 4G. So I need to investigate that first.

RE: M997 not clear
@T3P3Tony Yes, I used the V parameter as you show. And I assume the prior F parameter worked or it would not have found the 3.6 beta files that I specified.
-
RE: G30 travel acceleration and speed
@T3P3Tony That is correct, the T value applied to the M558 command does change the travel speed, but it does not honor machine limits. Additionally (I didn't test this part again for fear of damage) if you leave off the T parameter altogether it uses an extreme travel speed. I'm not sure where it would have calculated that based on other settings.

RE: G30 travel acceleration and speed
@T3P3Tony Yes, still present in 3.6.0-beta.4
-
RE: M997 not clear
@jay_s_uk It was the latest 3.5.4 when I got it last week.

M997 not clear
I was on 3.5.4 SBC. I used M997 to switch to unstable feed. Then I issued M997 S2 and it churned for a while and came back still at 3.5.4. I was expecting it to update to the latest unstable.
When I used M997 with explicit version then it worked. So I'm not clear what M997 without a version is actually doing. Does it only work on stable feed if there is a new stable release?
Request:
Would like to issue M997 Q [for query] and it would report if there is an action that will be taken. Also show the feed status.
Examples:
"[STABLE]: current 3.5.4, nothing available"
or
"[UNSTABLE] current: 3.6.0-beta.3, available: 3.6.0-beta.4" -
RE: Control Heaters -> Turn Everything Off not working
@Phaedrux I plan to try to repro on the latest firmware. If I still see it I will start a new topic.

RE: G30 travel acceleration and speed
@T3P3Tony I'm on 3.5.4 currently. I am attempting to move to 3.6 now.

RE: DuetLapse3
@stuartofmt Hmm, not sure if this is right but it pauses 2.7 seconds on every layer which is not going to work for me as it will ruin many prints. Got several msgqueue full pop-ups. After the print there are no images in /opt/dsf/sd/DuetLapse3/. The plug-in said deactivated, though it was working when I started. I did capture manually and the camera works. Idea where to debug?

31 Temp compensation
In the documentation for G31 it says the temperature coefficient is mm/°C, which makes sense because thermal expansion is typically linear. But the formula example shows temperature squared: 1.2 + 0.02x6x6 = 1.92mm. This is for the single coefficient setting. Can someone clarify?

RE: DuetLapse3
@stuartofmt thank you! That was the missing information I needed. I have it installed and running. Now to test some gcode…
