So I got myself a FlashAir card, but transferring files to it is horribly slow, at around 30-50 KB/s. I can transfer files between machines on my Wi-Fi network at 20+ MB/s. FlashAir often also seems to crash randomly and either stop responding to pings or stop responding to HTTP (WebDAV) requests. Oh well.

I imagine crashing the nozzle into your build surface could cause quite a bit of damage!
      And you'd be right!
However, the magnetic ball joints let go before it does any damage.
The torque multiplication was part of what I wanted. Fast printing needs high acceleration which requires torque.

On a different (commercial) project I found the stretch in timing belts to be an issue moving the end effector fast - it needed high precision and the elasticity in the belt caused judder in the position. That was solved using lead screws - and hopefully they will benefit this for the same reason.

My guess is the SD socket is 'hot' because of the residual heat from me holding the SD Card. It's perfectly possible I touched the Xtal at the same time! Mind you, they are only 2C warmer than ambient - so not exactly hot.

I'd like to thank David for his help and Roland from T3P3 for sending a new board (which works perfectly) so quickly. It arrived at mid-day today. I'll return the dodgy one to David by return.

      Exemplary service all round!
