I placed my order with my reseller and was offered their last beta board. I agreed and am set to receive it next week. I thought there was a thread for the beta boards but I can’t find it, anyone happen to be able to point me to it?

not a thread as much as the wiki maybe?

one thing you may not have considered - will duet3d publish firmware files for the beta boards or will you need to build your own, possibly backport changes as needed?

The changes from pre-production (what I think blt3dp is referring to) and production are minimal, I don't see why the firmware wouldn't work on both.

I hadn’t considered that the beta boards might not be supported by future versions of the firmware.

There are prototype boards and early production boards.

Prototype boards are version 0.5. We made only a small number and we gave them away to a few OEMs and power users. They have TMC5161 drivers and a 40-pin connector for the RPi. They need a special firmware build, which we will not be supporting once Duet 3 is in full production.

Early production boards are version 0.6 and are what we offered in the previous pre-order. They are electrically almost identical to the version 1.0 boards is the current pre-order so they run the same firmware. We will continue to support them.

(I don't have my 0.6 board on front of me)

Can a pin header be added to the 0.6. as has been added to the out 9 pwm on the 1.0 board for VFD, Laser etc, as I think I will be controlling a cnc laser/cutter in the near future

@CaLviNx no just you can either use a fan output if you laser/vfd is happy with 12V pwm or use one of the PWM capable IO headers and step up the pwn to 5V for the laser controller/vfd controller

In theory, yes if you can find somewhere to attach the header and you add some wires and one resistor. Years ago I added a 4-pin Dupont header to a Duet 0.6 board by filing some notches in the edge of the Duet and epoxying the connector there (with the wires already connected). Of course, this invalidated the warranty.

In practice, there are probably easier ways of connecting a laser or VFD to a Duet 3.

Hello for this new model I saw something that caught my attention, they mention within their specifications compatibility with touch screens via HDMI for greater clarity of the interface and control.

Touch via HDMI is something curious, since I have recently been in Alibaba with a large company of touch screens for another project and a 15-inch full HD Touch model, despite having a controller with HDMI and USB Type-C inputs, the touch functionality of the screen could only be used with USB type C if we connected a Mobile.

I would like to know more about it, what screen requirements and maximum resolutions and protocols this new Duet 3 can support, because it would be great to be able to use a high resolution touch screen.

@glennh1008 On Duet 3, the HDMI touch screen is connected to a Raspberry Pi. So you can use any touch screen that is compatible with a RPi.

And, you will find that anything plugged into the HDMI on the RPi, whether "touch - all in one" or "screen/keyboard/mouse", what appears on that screen at boot time is the full DWC 2.0 interface (that is, not the PanelDue limited interface).
