So, I'm printing. I still have some tidying up to do on the electronics (need to box up that side once I'm sure the wiring is all settled). Need to wrap the wires up, etc. Print a paneldue enclosure and attach it. Little miscellaneous items like that. There's a slight bit of tweaking to be done to get the plane of the bed completely flat. It's close, but it can be better.

So the click of "print" on the first test, a 20mmx20x10 cube, gave a very nice result with mesurements 20.04 x 19.98 x 9.99.

Here's the second print, the traditional benchy.

I've printed enough of them to say I can look at this one and not see anything that stands out as needing drastic improvement. There was no appreciable stringing - just 3 or 4 fine wisps. The surface is even, the cooling was excellent (the line of the bow shows zero sights of any curling) and all the thin walls meet nicely. That was printed at 75mm/s. Edit: the last pic seems to show a layer or two that bulge in the bottom right. They don't in person - I checked after I saw them in the pic. I think it's a trick of the filament and the lighting)

I did fight with Z motion for a while yesterday, was really weird. I'd get double, half, no movement, or even movement in the opposite direction from sending a simple G1 Z10 / G1 Z-10. Reflashing the firmware resolved that one.

Kraegar printed the benchy at 75mm/s; I've gone as high as 90mm/s with .4 nozzle at lower layer heights with only slight ringing. Kraegar's build seems to be performing a bit better than my prototype "alpha" model, so we'll have to wait for his high-speed tests. 😄

Noticing some variation in the IR probe trigger heights across the bed. Trying to figure out what's causing that - square printers are new to me so there's some learning curve there. I like to chase perfection on these things. Everything's within .1mm across the bed currently, but I'd like to get that down around 0.1, the oddball trigger height variation is making it tough, though.

Current status: Everything is done on my build. Tested with a BLTouch, and will be tinkering with a piezo just to try one on it (love it on my delta). I need to work on the documentation, and a couple STL's on Thingiverse. I have a ton of photos of the build to process for the documentation.

The great news: this thing prints fantastically. Essentially zero problems with it since the build was completed.

Here's a print from last night.

Thanks guys. Spent a couple days out of town for work. I hope to put some time in on the documentation this weekend.

A short video of a 0.05mm layer print, at 75mm/s print speed:

The results of the print. 0.01mm print on the left, 0.05mm layer on the right. Both at 75mm/s (no other changes aside from layer height)

                                    0.02, 0.05, 0.1

                                    0.02, 0.05

                                    0.02

The 0.02 needed a bit more infill / top layers, there are a couple small gaps on the top surfaces around the outside. The thin layers just don't cover 20% infill terribly well. All were printed with the same settings other than layer height. 20% infill, 3 bottom, 5 top, 3 perimeter. 75mm/s. Atomic gold PLA
