I think if you want to use radial limits then don't specify a M208 for XY. I don't think they have limits other than Z set for a delta. I assume that if you set a square limit range in XY you'd either have the corners protrude into areas that the effector can't reach, or you would have to keep the limits within the reachable radius and you'd loose some travel.

Then for your M557 just use the radius instead of a grid.

I was just wondering if that might be it. Thanks!

Is there a way to set Radial limits instead of grid?

So a hang printer is limited to a round area like a Delta?

For a delta there is a M665 command somewhere which specifies, among other things, the delta radius.

I would think there would be some command to specify that radius for a hang printer.

The printable radius for a hang printer is set in M669 P. So a bit different than delta.

            @phaedrux
Yeah the radius is in the M669 command which seems to be the same as the M665 for delta.

But either way with or without X Y limits in the M208 it still doesn't want to manually probe the points with G29.

We do plan on getting some type of probe eventually, but the budget makers want to see it using a mesh first. We also are looking at different probe options between a physical sensor or a laser of some sort.

I cannot find that in the "gcode dictionary".

It lists the type (hang printer) for M669 but I cannot find the other values for that type.

Try to avoid using the GUI to set the spacing etc, just send the M557 R S command from the console.

Shouldn't the items related to M669 also be in the gcode dictionary along with all the other types?

Tried changing the to the Radius one.

Alright. I'll have to get DC42 to take a look. It may be a bug.

At this point it would be helpful to be able to test in standalone mode so that we could narrow down if the problem is with the firmware or with DSF on the Pi.

That would be with direct USB connection?
Or is there a way to do it direct with network cable?

Mounted on the ceiling connecting through wire with laptop is a challenge. Our print area takes up a 13ftx13ft space.

Standalone mode means that the Duet has a direct network connection and an SD card is needed in the Duet with your config files and the files for DWC. The Pi isn't used in this mode. No direct USB connection, but the Duet3 requires ethernet. So that may be a problem if you were depending on wifi for the Pi.

Yeah we are relying on the PI.

We have no networking in this building yet. The pi is connecting to a wifi hotspot on my phone and I'm using that to talk to the printer.

If I can use a network cable to go direct to my laptop I can probably make it work.

Yes if you can route the cable that would work. You'd need to manually set an IP address for the Duet in config.g and then manually set an IP address on your laptop. Both IP addresses must be in the same subnet. Then you can connect to DWC via the Duet IP.

Sounds good. Thanks. I'll get a long network cable next time I come down here. So if we need to go direct I'll be able to. Look forward to seeing what DC42 thinks. Thanks again for the help.

                                      Hi,

Just out of curiosity what is the "raison d'etre" for a hang printer?

                                      Thanks.

@fcwilt We are working with a group that is wanting to print building sized objects with a custom material, but the printer needs to be easy to transport. I know of no other printer that can do such a large print volume with so few materials for the printer itself. So we proposed a hangprinter This is the first phase proof of concept. If it works we'll be moving to a v4 hangprinter with a pellet extruder. This is why the mesh level needs to be working. We are currently trying to print on 4x8 sheets and will eventually be printing straight to the ground.
