      Duet2wifi v duet3wifi mini5+ I have been running my duet2 well for almost 5 years now, very happy thankyou!

      I want to upgrade my CR10S4 so I am looking at either a second duet2wifi or the duet3wifi mini5+ I'd like the same Interface and same functionality and run a PT100 if I can (looks like I can. I am having difficulty seeing the differences between the two, except the mini is cheaper. Why would I want the 2?

        @gzcwnk the stepper drivers on the 3+ can't provide as much current but are newer.
        The 3+ can only handle 7 drivers locally before moving on to CAN connected boards. The 2 tops out at 12 drivers through the use of a duex5.
        The 3+ has CAN, the 2 doesn't.
        The 3+ has 256kb of ram, the 2 has 128kb.
        I would go 3+ over 2.

          Agree with Jay, for a new printer I'd most likely pick the mini, but I wouldn't necessarily replace a duet2 wifi if it works well. That said, I did just replace the duet2 wifi plus duex on my idex with a mini plus expansion board because it's way more compact (and I have the option of going with tool boards to go with 4 instead of 8-20 -- fans, heater, thermistor, z probe, LED light, accelerometer -- wires to each toolhead)

            @jay_s_uk that table is what I was searching for thanks. CR10S4 isnt that huge though 2amps is a bit tight for its large Y stepper, I will need to check that but pretty sure its OK.

              @oliof the duet2wifi is in my Wanhao D6 which is still going gang busters 5 years later and will stay as is. This would be a second, for the CR10S4 which I need to work on to get into shape.

                @gzcwnk then I'd get the mini.

                  @gzcwnk What stepper does it use on the Y axis?

                    @jay_s_uk said in duetwifi2 v duet3mini5:

                    ?where would you connect the 2 extra drivers? It's 5 drivers on each board and two external?
                    Another neg. point is that prices for Duex5 are raising, furthermore there are almost no clones available.

                      @o_lampe I believe its 2 external yes (I was going off what it says on the link I posted above), never owned a duex5 though.

                        Steppers 11 and 12 are wired to the CONN_LCD header via external stepper boards:
