having issues with z mapping
-
+Z should move the nozzle and bed farther apart.
-Z should move them closer together. Is this how it is on your printer?
You currently have it configured for a Z max endstop, meaning the endstop is at the farthest point away from the bed. Is that actually the case?
-
ok my Endstop is at min. z axis not my max z axis and yes its 400mm not 800mm can I change this in RepRap configurator?
-
You could reload your config.json file into the online tool and make your changes and then save the new set of files, that may be easiest since it would require changes to the endstop definition, and your homing files to get everything going in the correct direction. It may or may not also require a change to the motor direction.
All of this can be done manually by editing your existing files as well. The config tool gives a good starting point, but eventually most people will begin editing the files directly.
The endstop change for instance, This:
M574 Z2 S1 P"!zstop"
would become this:
M574 Z1 S1 P"!zstop"
Z1 means low end of travel. Z2 means high end of travel. For the homing file changes, this:
G1 H1 Z405 F360 ; move Z up stopping at the endstop G90 ; absolute positioning G92 Z800 ; set Z position to axis maximum (you may want to adjust this)
would become this:
G1 H1 Z-405 F360 ; move Z up stopping at the endstop
Z405 is positive upward movement, Z-405 is negative downward movement.

ok ill give it a shot and thanks for all your help and taking the time to explain everything.

That looks better. Does it home in the right direction towards the endstop now?
-
@phaedrux yes everything seems to be working now after your help so thank you all for taking so much time to walk me thru it.
-
@phaedrux one last thing if you don't mind. my heat bed is faulting out because it is not heating fast enough i think it said with in 1.3 c a sec. my question is would it be ok to disable that or make it for a longer window to allow to heat? any guidance?
-
@kevinlallshouse you need to tune your bed heater:

@engikeneer ok thanks everyone for all the help.
