Smart effector lost nearly all sensivity
-
Yesterday i finished a flawless print..wanted to start another one ( workked so flawless that not even watched it start to print)and then it happens..nozzle clogged because ther were no z-offset.
After lots of G32 and MEshs i started over with the testing of the smart effector. Afterall i found that it losts its sensitivity.just between 2 prints. on standard of 50 it dont flashed if i tap the nozzle...and it rams the nozzle into bed till i lost steps and scratches over the print bed.
Had tutn up the sensivity up to 15 to get a halfway normal feedbeach via M672 S105:010:245 but even with that it often ignores the contact...
Disassambled the effector today but cant see anything on the PCB. Any hint of what could cuase this? worked for years flawless...and if the straingauge is broken it schouldnt work at all, right?
Mybe the delta just realized that i was to print parts for my new project a duet Voron 2.4 and decided to sabotage me Guess i dont want to spend another 70 bucks for a new effector. MAybe someone had similar problems already

Next day..next try..
To exclude a bad crimp i re-crimped the 8 pin connector on the smart effector. But same behaviour. if i program it with sensitivity of 10 i get readings before probing ..if i change it to 15 he misses readings and rams the nozzle into bed.
Anything else i could do to find the cause of that problem? -
Have anything physically changed with the mount? Is something loose?
-
@phaedrux
No..checked all ball ends..nuts...hotend..nothing loose...even tried to loosen it. nothing changed between these 2 prints, when it starts to ram into bed. tried smaller build areas for probing ( as i made the mag arms new this year and they are 10mm shorter, so the kinematic gets a little bit unstable if i tired the whole 300mm diameter for probing) Very strange....ordered a new effector and hope to get it this week. -
Just received the new effector. its a Rev 3 Effector..
is it normal that the coldend dont sits flush to the pcb?
the palstic nut is just wurned on with hand...would need force to make the coldend flush with pcb...or should i sand the hole in the pcb larger? -

If it's a little snug, yes you can do that.
BTW, still looking into your original sensitivity issue.

I've just assembled a Mk3; I found the heatsink to be a very tight fit in the PCB as well, but it did seat fully in when rotated a few times, like "screwing it in", before fitting the nut.
-
Had to sand the pcb a little bit...anyway
With the new effector it worked like charm again...so something must be wrong with the old one..as i never got any error LED flashing its strange..but the efforctor worked well for about 5 Years..

@barracuda72 yes there may well be some dame to the traces or connection points for the sensing components on one side of the board. Its not possible to say without close inspection.
