@droftarts Yes, this is what I said in my previous statement to you. It is all the components on the board.

The chamber is heated by the bed and hotend. The reason why it prints petg and not the high temp nylon is because the chamber temp rises much higher with the higher temp plastics. Especially on very hot days. I realize now that I cannot print my higher temp plastics until I bring cold air in to cool the electronics. 🤠

A small update: The issue has nothing to do with heat of the chamber or the Duet 3 mini. After a ton of testing, I have narrowed the issue down around the extruder.

Exhausting all other tests, I decided to run a print cycle with no filament running through the extruder and it finished the print. I am able to print at high temperature with flexible Nylon, but the stiff carbon fiber nylon throws a reset.

I installed a new stepper and Bontech extruder. I will post results later.

Printer runs perfectly without errors with no filament loaded. Petg, non-composite nylon, everything works. Yes my nozzle is grounded to the frame and Earth ground.

I now have a Nema 17 x 48mm stepper on a Bontech extruder, pulling from 2.5Kg spool and pushing through 500mm of bowden tube.

Maybe there is too much friction with carbonfiber nylon?

Currently printing test cube with M92 E1.

If it works OK without filament, it does sound as though it is ESD. Have you checked with a multimeter that there is continuity between the hot end metalwork and Duet ground? Also check that the extruder motor body is connected to the same ground, in case it is the extruder motor building up ESD and flashing over to the phase connections.

Hello and thank you. Where on the Duet mini would be the appropriate place to place an earth ground?

"At the power supply, you can also connect the DC - terminal to the earth terminal, that way any shorts on the low voltage side to the high voltage side will be shunted to ground as well. If you do this you need to be a bit more careful about ground loops when connecting via USB."

                        I made some progress.

Everything grounded, and verified. Still failed to print.

And then I purposely added load to the extruder and reproduced the failure. I didn't know that excessive pull force on the extruder, pulling from a large 2Kg spool would trigger a reset.

Increased current to 1200 fail, 1400 fail, 1600 and it almost finished the print. However, 1600 is beyond the capability of the mini 5, so I will have to find another solution to reduce pull resistance from the spool. Other materials work well, but not carbon fiber.

I will test some more and report back.

                          Larger internal diameter PTFE tube?

The surface texture of the carbon fiber materials is very rough. Lots of friction.

                            @Phaedrux Exactly.
So because this is Nylon CF I print from a sealed filament box, a big one that can handle up to 8Kg spools, my filament has to pass through bowden tubing before it reaches the print enclosure. I have obtained 6mm OD/ 4mm ID ptfe tubing with PC6 fittings.

Also, normally my spools roll on rollers, which is fine because my rollers are 75mm in diameter. Larger rollers are a lower roller-to-spool ratio and less friction. But with this material, the system had too much resistance. So I built a center shaft mount in the enclosure for the larger spools, while still being able to use the convenience of the rollers for my other spools.

I am finally able to finish a print without failure. I lowered my motor current down to 1200ma. I know it sounds rediculous, but I am considering mounting one of my 60mm steppers to the bondtech extruder so that I can have increased torque with lower current draw from the drivers. I am not sure if this will work due to the 60mm stepper being 4 volts and higher impedance. However, I am not looking for speed out of the extruder stepper, just torque.

I thought I had this under control. The new ptfe larger tube made the pull resistance drop to nearly nothing. Still getting failures mid print. I even attempted to print with all of the enclosure doors open. Enclosure temperature 30C.

I ordered some Capricorn tubing, I don't have any in stock. And I had a good laugh while I was bolting on a 60mm super whomper to my extruder. I guess I should order input gear shafts. I am going to replace a few other things while I have the printer apart.

I took the whole hot end apart and there is no resistance for the filament. I replaced the extruder stepper with another new one, just in case. There has to be something wrong in my settings?

Possible back pressure issue. This filament may have a higher density than normal and require less extrusion.

I dropped extrusion down by 80%, retested print and failed.
Removed 0.4mm nozzle and added 0.6mm nozzle. Print successful.
