Does the future belong to PanelDue oder DWC on SBC-Screens?

I wonder about the future plans for PanelDue. Since the Duet boards work nicely with SBCs, DSI- and HDMI-Screens are supported. Furthermore, the PanelDue needs to be configured manually since RRF v3.1 (I guess?). Thus they do not seem to be default anymore.
To me this looks like PanelDue is on its way out and as if the future belongs to displays connected to the SBC. Am I right? Are there plans on deprecating PanelDue? Or are there plans for new Versions of it?
I would like see ongoing support for PanelDue. To me it seems more reliable than Control through a Webinterface, because it sends its commands directly to the mainboard. There is no Browser, no Network stack and no Web Server in Between. In my general experience, less moving parts means more stability and reliability.

DWC on a non standard sized monitor is a bit problematic, since it doesn't auto scale well.
I also wouldn't want a fullHD screen (with touchpanel or mouse?) on my printer, just to run DWC from SBC.
I have no experience with PanelDue, but I thought the main advantage was, that it comes "plug&play" out of the box?There's BtnCmd, a tool to tailor your own DWC page which can be made to fit any monitor (within reason).
That's IMHO the most versatile way to control Duets from different devices. -

@justus2342 we have no plans to discontinue PanelDue and we may introduce a major hardware update to it next year. We're also looking at supporting small direct-connect TFT touch screens in RRF 3.5.

On the SBC side of the house. I had an idea to write a X Window app that is basically the PD layout. People may argue why not just run DWC? But in my mind this app would basically be the PD and screen for the SBC at the same time. and not connect via network but direct to OS&DSF. Basically klipper screen concept for RRF+SBC makes obtaining a touchscreen for your RRF printer really easy hardware wise.
I think this a great idea but lack the skill to actually make it haha. I'm useless that way
