      Good morning, I would like to start by preparing that I have a delta printer with duet 2, I am using it as a plotter, for very small writings I have a 0.03 mm tip. It is possible to increase the definition by modifying the config, maybe temporarily only for this job

        @luca-Massimiliano You could start by finding that caps lock key so you’re not screaming at everyone.

        Not sure what you mean by definition, the controller just executes the G-code commands it is given. You could increase the resolution of those, if that's what you mean by definition.

          @elmoret I would like to understand what the minimum movement (of the printer) that can be had on the axes depends on, for example drawing parallel lines 0.01mm apart or dots.

            I would suspect that you'd lose enough in mechanical backlash to make that level of precision nearly impossible. I think it will depend a lot more on the rigidity of your printer than any other limitation. The Duet will try and move the printer in accordance with the resolution of your gcode file and within the mm per step resolution.

              @Phaedrux If I change the steps per millimeter with M92, could I not achieve this precision?

                You can try to increase your microstep size with m350 and recalculate your steps per mm in m92 at the expense of top speed.

                But I still think you're likely to run into rigidity issues. 3d printing is generally a zero contact point process so the print head doesn't make contact with a hard surface and ideally doesn't suffer from contact deflection, but with a plotter you are dragging a tip across a surface. Delta aren't known for their rigidity.

                Have you done any testing yet to see what is possible with your current setup?

I managed to get a 0.03 pen today so I can check my parameters which are M350 X16 Y16 Z16 E16:16 I1 M92 X100 Y100.00 Z100.00 basically with m92 I would scale

                    To start I would suggest disabling microstep interpolation and try x64 microsteps.

                    I assume the pen movements would be fairly slow speed, so you shouldn't run into skipped steps hopefully.

                        You can also get steppers with twice the "resolution" of the more common 1.8 degree per step units. These units have 0.9 degrees per step.

                        And there are steppers with planetary gear boxes attached which up the resolution (the ones I use are 5-to-1 gear ratio) BUT I don't know how it would effect accuracy, or perhaps repeatability would be a better term.
