We will shortly be ordering some Duex5 prototypes to confirm the design before doing the production run I was wondering how many DuetWifi users would be interested in getting one of the prototypes. In outline:

    5 more TMC2660s
5 more heater channels (that can be re-purposed for servos)
    5 more thermistor channels
5 more endstops (think filament out sensors etc)
    support for 2 more PT100/TC daughter boards , so 4 more PT100/TCs
same form factor as the DuetWifi, designed to be mounted back-back with spacers for efficient use of space and cooling.

The cost for the prototypes will be the cost to us + shipping, not confirmed yet but in the region of £50, obviously as they are prototypes there may be issues with them. We will be getting a couple manufactured and tested prior to the prototype assembly run so the ones we send out will have at least the basic functionality of 5 more stepper and heater channels.

Please comment below if you are interested in getting one, at this stage a comment is not a commitment to buy, similarly we cannot guarantee that everyone who asks for one will get one.

    UPDATE (16 Oct):

We will be emailing all those who have expressed interest in the next couple of days (before the end of Tuesday 18 Oct) to let you know the cost and planned delivery schedule. Also you will need to confirm your details so we can raise PayPal invoices.

For those who have expressed interest through the forum only, I will use your forum email address so please check this one if it's not your primary address.

UPDATE 2 (19 Oct): I have emailed those who expressed interest. If you don't have the email then let me know (info@duet3d.com).

UPDATE 4(24 Oct): Thanks for everyone who has now responded. We will start sending out the paypal invoices today but as there is a lot going on we might not get them all out for a couple of days.

When you receive yours please pay promptly as we do have a reserve list.

With drooling over the quad extruder setup that Josef Prusa came out with recently, this would be awesome to try out with the duet board. Let me know what you need from me because I'm very interested to try out the prototype.

It may be complete overkill to use this board for this but I'd like to add several more thermistor controlled fans to my printer as a way of turning them off or slowing them down when not needed. Currently, I have a pair of fans in the upper triangle (enclosed) of my printer, another pair in the lower triangle (enclosed), a fan on the Duet WiFi, and fans on the effector. Being able to turn off or slow down the electronics cooling fans when not needed would make a significant reduction in noise. Especially since my stepper motors now make almost zero noise thanks to the Duet Wifi! Would there be some way to have the heater connections reverse their operation so that they power up to cool instead of heat? A firmware change is probably necessary.

Aside from the features that Tony mentioned, the board has another 5 PWM-controlled outputs for fans or lighting. So it should be able to do what you want if you don't run out of thermistor channels.

Would love to. But first need to launch the Zesty Nimble.
This takes all my time at the moment so it would not be fair to those guys that can spend time on it.

But I am very interested as I am prepping a Diamond nozzle head so need 1 more extruder.
Also want to start looking into full colour printing so I will need more control.
