Problems installing the IR Probe on the Duet Ethernet

it seems to just light up one time when i plug in usb.
Do you mean that the LED on the IR sensor flashes once, or lights up and stays lit? How bright is it? A continuous dimly-lit LED on the IR sensor means that it isn't getting the Vcc supply.

it looks normal brightness. it lights up once and then goes off. never lights up again. been over everything ten times. now z motors just buzz. getting discuraged. spent all this money...
-
Could you upload a few photos showing how you have it wired? (the connectors at each end of the cable)

Looks like you wires are connected to Duet incorrectly. Red wire (+3.3v) should be where your green (or is it blue) wire is, next pin should be free, then ground (black one) and finally closest to Paneldue connector should be green wire. Or to make it simple, you have to turn your connector 180 degrees.

@mikeb guess e3d messed up.

you fixed me bud. i owe you one! thanks again!

I have to say that David's mini IR module is the best height sensor to use with the duet board. I am getting the most accurate readings..

@blv how is your bed setup? PICS?
and i agree is does seem to be accurate but i have much to learn... -

Thanks! But in fairness, there are some surfaces that it doesn't work well with, e.g. glass with a coating of glue stick or hairspray on top.

@dc42 yes i have read about this. i bought black paper build surface that it seems to work well with. im fighting z axes shutter right now... no printing at all.
